Nire's Desire Violent Pansy

It seems like ages ago when I pondered about my Blog-Resolutions for 2014 - one of them was showing once a week an old untried with which I could fairly well keep up - the other one was trying new to me brands and with this one I failed so far more often than not. So this week I would like to introduce Nire's Desire to you my dear Blog readers. I came across Nire's Desire over at Pointless Cafe and was plain delighted over the beauty of the shown polishes (you can see the post here). To make the long story short, I headed over to Erin's Etsy Shop and indulged in some polish splurge.  Two weeks later I found wonderful nail mail from Erin in my mailbox. Frankly, I had no idea what order I received because the package was way larger than I would have anticipated based on the polishes I ordered. Erin was so sweet to include two minis of …. I am not going to spoil that here just yet and a full sized bottle of her very own Nire's Desire Top Coat.

To kick-off Nire's Desire week with Polished Marvels I just have to start with a super vampy shade. Violent Pansy is the darkest blackened blue jelly base you can imagine filled with purple and magenta shimmer.

and because I just couldn't get that shimmer stronger in the above pictures, I added one coat of Cult Nails Wax that - let's see in artificial light:

I applied two coats of Nire's Desire Violent Pansy over my regular Base Coat. I achieved the best result when doing not too thin coats. The jelly-pigmentation of the base color can cause some "pale" spots if applied too thinly. Dry time was normal leaving a slightly uneven surface due to the amount of shimmer particles.

I of course also opened the bottle of Nire's Desire's Top Coat. I would say the consistency is similar to the discontinued Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Coat. Dry time is pretty fast but not as quick as Sally Hansen Insta Dry. The brush is quite long and bushy with soft bristles. I got the best results when I whipped off the brush carefully before slapping the Top Coat on to prevent flooding my nubbins.

Final thoughts: I just love how the micro shimmer gives Violent Pansy the purple hue - and while it took me sweat and tears to bring out the one or the other shimmer, it never looks black. Very vampy indeed - loooooove it!!!!!

I ordered Nire's Desire Violent Pansy with their Etsy shop here.

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!
Christine

  3. This is the owner of Nire's Desire. I just wanted to let you know I will be changing brushes. It took me awhile but I finally found a flat brush I'm happy with. Thank you for the beautiful swatch and blog!

    1. Hi Erin - thank you so much - I will incorporate this info in my posts - I always write them over the weekend and much to my annoyance I had no chance in amending the posts earlier - please accept my apologies! And as mentioned: the brush thing is really no big deal!!!!!
