Yes, I am a Holo FNUGista!!! FNUG holographic range 2012

It is December, it is dark and murky most of the days and I am still totally obsessed with holographic nail polish. Back in September I saw pictures by Fashionpolish on the holographic nailpolish range by FNUG and was won over. Patiently I assembled all of them and finally gladly present to you my FNUG collection:

From left: FNUG Fantastica, FNUG Futuristica, FNUG Psychedelic. Please apologize my shrimp claws as background but at this time of the year it is so hard to get decent photos of a holographic nailpolish :-S - but then we want to see them on the nails - right ;-)?

FNUG Fantastica:

FNUG Futuristica

FNUG Psychedelic:

All pictures show 2-3 thin coats of the respective FNUG holographic polish over one coat of FNUG Aqua Base Coat. If you are more experienced in painting your nails or have less ridged nails than me, you probably get away applying two coats only. But I found my nail imperfections were still too visible at two coats.

Be aware, my dear readers, that these polishes were (at least for me) inapplicable without an Aqua Base Coat. FNUG has an AWESOME base coat - the price tag made me hesitate at first but I have to admit every drop is worth every cent I spent on it!!!!

Unfortunately the wearing performance is - I hate to say this - not very good. This is after one day of wear of FNUG Psychedelic without Top Coat. I cannot remember when I last experienced a chip in the middle of a nail as happened today while shovelling food on my plate in the canteen. If the polish needs to last more than a day I definitively will use top Coat despite its diminishing the holo effect. Amendment: a reader of my Blog mentioned she did not experience any difficulty applying Fnugs without Aqua Base Coat. I think my inability is partially rooted in my extremely ridged nails and partially my lack of painting skills ;-)!!!

What are your favorite holographic polishes? And would anyone have any tips for me how to achieve better performance of wear?

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting
Christine

I ordered my Fnug polishes and the Fnug Aqua Base Coat with Pshiiit Boutique and with Harlow & Co.

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!

  1. I still have to try FNUG. I have Psychedelic waiting for me but I *need* more sun to be able to wear it! But you know, from today the days are getting longer again :)

  4. I also have Futuristica and Psychedelic, and I totally agree with you! They are not nearly as shimmery without the basecoat, and yes, they only last for like 1 day! I tried with topcoat, but that just ruined the holo effect... But but, the one day they last, they are AWESOME! ;)

    1. Thank you for your lovely comment - and I agree, who cares if it just last one day given the insane holo effect :-)
