Picture Polish Columbia

I saved the most mind blowing polish of the Picture Polish Rocky Horror Picture Show shades for last. This would be Columbia, a medium red jelly base with tons and tons of small red glitter (yes, it is reminiscent of China Glaze Ruby Slippers).

I applied two coats of Picture Polish Columbia over Butter London Patent Gel Base Coat. The formula is slightly thicker due to the amount of glitter packed into this beauty. Still, the application was a breeze as once more the formula is perfection and no glitters stray outside the painted area of your nail. Having read that Columbia has a jelly base, I was a tad worried if I really get it opaque in two coats but surprisingly two coats really work out great. Which is a merit also given the thicker consistency. If a third coat would be needed I definitely would recommend layer Columbia over a base color. The dry time is a tad slow but a fast drying Top Coat does the job here to get you and your nails ready to go. And note THIS: the surface of my nails was totally smooth even without Top Coat:

Picture Polish Columbia definitely talks Las Vegas if worn shiny but what truly knocked me out of my socks was the mattified version:

I applied one coat of Mentality Matte Top Coat - gaahh isn't this mindblowingly beautiful? Columbia takes on a Damask-esque quality shifting to a slightly darker shade around the edges - unfortunately it is not visible in my pictures.

Final thoughts: I am truly blown away by Picture Polish Columbia in every aspect, well this goes for all of the Rocky Horror Picture Show shades I ordered. While I first thought that getting them all is a tad fancy and certainly over the top considering that none of the shades are unique their performance is stellar and each and every one of them made it to my personal Nail Polish Olymp upon the first brushstroke.

I ordered Picture Polish Columbia with their own website.

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!

  1. Wow...what a beautiful grand finale!! I simply can't believe this was smooth without top coat! But the matte version...what a stunner...and it looks like something...what is it?? I'm sure it's some sort of food. :P Sort of a mix between cranberry relish and a red velvet cupcake? Ahhhh, I love it!!

    1. Thank you Melissa - hahaha you? Short of a food allegation? In my Inbox Liesl's comment appeared without any reference to what she gave a LOL - but I immediately knew it was this comment of yours ;-)! Talking polish: Columbia is stunning in every aspect and far from the usual pain when getting removed! And re food: what about strawberries in strawberry soup? xoxo to both of you

    1. Thank you sweetie <3 and imagine, I nearly didn't order it but just for the sake of getting the most out of the shopping fees Columbia travelled along with the rest of the troop - LOL

  4. OMGosh, the mattified version... ♥♥♥ It is slightly akin to Ruby Slippers, but this is more complex-- those magenta flashes, and less deep red and more quinacridone. It's totally gorgeous and actually reminds me more of that red Glam Polish glitter we both have than Ruby Slippers.

  5. Oh my word, it looks AMAZING mattified!! Without the glossy shine, you can see perfectly all the layers of glitters in there. I love how deep and complex of a polish it is. :)

    1. Thank you dear Yun - you nailed it, the matte finish was like digging depth into Columbia that was concealed by the high shine, on the other hand the high shine finish makes Columbia twinkle like a Las Vegas Sequine Dress - unfortunately I was unable to capture this craziness :-S

  6. Amazing! I love, love, love the mattified version, absolutely gorgeous, as Yun says, you can totally see the depth of the colour given by the glitters. What a beauty! my total favourite of the Rocky Horror series :)
ehemm, btw, I have big, big news, well, I placed my first TOTALLY INDIE nailpolish order. And I went a little overboard, I got 6 polishes lol! couldn't makeup my mind ;) I'm so looking forward to wearing them but I still have a bunch of swatches of other brands to do first, I do not want just to swatch them I want to SPORT them they're so PURRRRTY! haha, so you can take all the credit for my slow but sure CONVERSION to indie nail polish! Thank you Christine, bisous xxx
