Butter London Fash Pack Mini Set with Pinks - part 2

On Saturday I showed you some of the pink polishes coming in Butter London Fash Pack Mini Set. I bought this set sometime last week when wandering around Globus. Aren't they totally cute?

From left: Teddy Girl, Fruit Machine, Fairy Lights, Primrose Hill Picnic, Queen Vic

Queen Vic and Fairy Lights are a bit the odd balls in the set. They really line up nicely if you look at them as a whole but I could not work them into anything fitting with the other three shades - but what about throwing the two of them together?

I applied two coats of Queen Vic on all nails except my accent nail - that one is two coats of Fairy Lights. Queen Vic is a straight forward perfect cream. Highly pigmented, thin but not runny formula, even application - did I miss anything? Oh yes, it dries in fast to normal time to the high shine you see in the picture above. Fairy Lights looks so smooth and streak free because I slapped on an intermediate layer of Top Coat between Fairy Lights Coat No 1 and Fairy Lights Coat No 2 - pretty amazing, no? The formula of Fairy Lights is like melted ice cream and glides on the nail silkily but has a strong tendency to brushstrokes and to enhance any irregularities on the nails. When I went for thicker coats, I ended up with swirls of polish pools and it remained dentable way longer than it should have. This Top Coat trick allows thin and even coats. Still, I would not paint over the same area twice while the polish is still wet or paint overly slow. Swift, light brushstrokes are the road to take with this one.

But we are only half way through my mani - I haven't done any dots in months:

I applied the dots in the reversed color with a dotting tool - done! Since both polishes are very pigmented, both of them are great for dotticures - you know, sometimes those lesser pigmented polishes not only give sheer dots but also alter their color which would have impacted the reversed look of the above mani.

Final thoughts: I hear you, Queen Vic is more of an autumn color than a spring color and might for many be too much berry-leaning. But yes, I admit, I like berry colored nailpolish. I like the unexpected combination of the two polishes and until I had them on my nails I could not imagine if it would be a mix-match or a mix-clash. Looking at my nails I clearly have to right this down in the mix-match section ;-)

I bought the Butter London Fash Pack in pink with Globus.

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for stopping by and have a lovely Saturday :-)

  2. Those minis are adorable! Queen Vic is gorgeous -- I'm a berry polish lover too, I can't help it. The sweet reciprocal dots you did make these two look like they were made for each other, nice work!

    1. Oh I just cannot believe you - and frankly, my first experiences with dots were not presentable by all means. It helped that I then did some practice with highly pigmented and creamy metallics. But please, go on and show us a Dotticure soon - thanks (love your phrase from the berry…) xxx
