Sally Hansen Illustre Shine Copperhead

My dear friend Antonella brought me back a whole bunch of UTFs (unable to find) from her shopping trip to NYC - I love surprises and what other people pick for me - it gives such a healthy twinge to my stash and every so often I end up expanding my polish horizon by a color or finish I would not have considered before. Sally Hansen Illustre Shine Copperhead certainly fights this category perfectly. It was a beautiful sunny day, sometime in the past when I decided I cannot wear copper on my nails. I stuck to this conclusion,  until Antonella brought me Copperhead - how could I escape trying this beauty? In the bottle it looks like a pretty strong duo-chrome shifting from copper to turquoise. Let's have a look how it looked on my nails:

The above pictures are taken indoors in day and artificial light, the below photos outside in the shade. There at least a turquoise tinge can be detected.

I applied two effortless coats of Sally Hansen Copperhead over Essence Hardening Nail Base. The formula is creamy, pigmented and perfectly easy to control. It dries quickly though beware - it remains prone to dents for a good hour or so. I finished the mani with one coat of Glisten&Glow HK Girl.

I did try to coax more duo-chrome out of it with an underwater photo:

Final thoughts: now I was kind of stunned to find only a minor shift of color on my nails but I was liking the copper color so much on my nails, that I brushed the minor color shift away swiftly. Antonella, you truly opened a whole new color range for me - thank you hon <3!!!

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for passing by!!!
Christine

  1. Oh, you got a Lustre Shine!! That's fantastic! I love my Lava and keep thinking about picking up Scarab. I think it's cool how a mainstream brand like SH did a line of these fun duochromes. For somebody who doesn't shop with the indies, it would have to be pretty mind-blowing to see these in the stores. This is a great color for you too...looks lovely with your skin. <3

    1. Oh I cannot tell you how happy I am with my new Sally Hansens (yep, there are more)! For me they are so much harder to get than any Indie Brand out there!!! I find it totally amazing and none of the Illustre Shine need to hide from Indies - they can sit right next to them in the front row!!!

  5. Your photos all capture this polish SO well!!! I especially love the 4th photo. Brilliant!! ♥ And I agree, you most definitely can and SHOULD wear coppers. Remember that Sweet Colors copper I showed several months ago? (from Born Pretty Store) I bet you'd love that one too.
I always focus in on words & phrasing, and I love how you said "I brushed the minor color shift away swiftly." For some reason, it just seems so poetic and mellifluous! :D

    1. Sigh, I remember that copper and ogled it longingly - back then I was still in copper denial ;-)! Imagine, I don't own any Born Pretty Store items - nothing, zero, zilk :-o!!! Thank you so much for your wonderful support and your comment about my phrasing - I can have my moments but I have miles to catch up before I master English as well as you do, reading your Blog is part of my training xxx
