Colors by Llarowe Billy Jean

My trend number three is SHIMMER!!! We have seen aplenty of it also in the collections of mainstream brands (I think Zoya Mason here). The second part of trend number three post is the brand Colors by Llarowe. It was launched this summer and hit score from scratch. Leah Ann must have some magic pots in her polish kitchen as she hurls one awesomeness after the other at her fans. I particularly like her collections for not being seasonal but themed and you can find bright and happy colors with a little extra right next to dark and vampy soft holos and eye-searing holos (I think Dirty Diana here). In her recent collection she named the polishes after Michael Jackson songs. Today I have Billy Jean for you (one of the few songs by Michael Jackson I know). Billy Jean is a burgundy jelly base holding a myriad of red shimmer. And yep, I could not stop taking pictures so there is quite a flood coming towards you when scrolling down ;-)

and some more shimmer, shimmer, shimmer...

I applied two coats of Billy Jean over Essence Hardening Nail Base. The formula is perfection and well, what's left to say about application? Of course flawless. Billy Jean applies like silk and is already upon the first coat even and half opaque. However I would suggest that you do not go over the same area twice as it has the ever so slight tendency to drag. But I didn't wait more than 1-2 minutes in between applying the first and the second coat. After the first coat the base reminded me of a wonderful Chianti lightened up by all that red shimmer. The second coat darkens this polish but while you cannot really identify any Chianti or other wine reference anymore, it never looks black. Instead at two coats the shimmer glows and twinkles under any light.

Final thoughts: I like shimmer. I like Colors by Llarowe. I like this concept of themed collections unrelated to a Season. I like the option of pre-ordering new releases. I like the whole package. And as I type this, I started to wonder if I might keep up that Chianti base if layered over….. oh well this will be for another post ;-)

You can order Colors by Llarowe with - of course - Llarowe!

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!
Christine

  3. Haha...what a funny post. :D And blast you woman, with your shimmery wine temptations!!! :P What a beautiful color. I don't own any CbL, but everything I've seen looks so pretty. And I'm like you...I love collections unrelated to a season. That's not say I don't like the seasonal ones too...:)

    1. Hi Melissa - haha, you provide the menue and I do the drinks - LOL!! I wonder why I am so into those comparisons with liquids - I don't even like to drink wine or any alcohol in general - but the colors of them I sure do ;-). I so get what you mean - we just roam the drawers for whatever color speaks "take me" the loudest ;-) xxx

  5. It's beautiful, and an absolute stunner on you! I'm so loving reds with a little (or a lot) extra lately. I loooove MJ, too, which was not always the case... But I tell you, I'd give my eyeteeth to be able to dance like he did.

    1. Hi Liesl :-D!!!! Just imagining the two of us in a MJ dance class, that would be so much fun and you know me, I love my reds like you do and if we would have a third hand, that would always have a red mani :-D - thank you xxx

  6. Salut Christine, the shade you show us today is so sexy! I think I need this one :) I don't have (too) many deep reds. And I think this will be a perfect replacement for my sadly discontinued YSL rouge désir.
I wish you a great day, ma biche, bisous, xxx

    1. Thank you my dear Essie xxx!!!!! Should we call this glitter-shimmer? Or shimmery glitter? It is so deep and without being see through still allows that shimmer to be so visible - have a wonderful day <3
