My NOTDs of the week

What a week - with people coming back from vacation work shifted two gears up, then hospital visit (no drama, but these days I start visiting friends getting new knees, hips and what have you, days of baby visits definitely gone - LOL)!!! And yesterday we had my mum's Birthday bash for her eightieth. We are a big family and with another generation nearly grown up with even only half of us we are more than 30 people. Yep - we had an awesome gathering!!!

But also nail polish wise this week was awesome - while I didn't get a lot of nail mail in the past couple of weeks (our customs seemed to have slowed down to vacation mode too) I was finding nail mail in my mailbox every other day - I had polish-overload so to say - LOL! Elevation Polish quickly got catapulted to my top favorite brands - and just look at Pic de Sotllo - I am sure you understand why I as a blue nail polish addict - am head over heels over it.

I applied three coats of Pic de Sotllo over Essence XXL Nail Thickener. The formula is fantastic and applies evenly and smoothly. At two coats the look was still a bit too sheer for my taste, hence the third coat. Pic de Sotllo looks deep and saturated in artificial light and very bright and vibrant in the sun - I am in love….

To go for another day with Pic de Sotllo I applied Elevation Polish's Avalanche! A glitter holo topper claiming to hold 10 different sorts of glitters:

I applied one coat of Avalanche! over Pic de Sotllo. As to be expected the formula of Avalanche! is thicklish due to the incredible amount of glitter in it but it was so easy to apply (brushed on, not dabbed) and I had no issues with glitter clusters or bald spots or any other of the glitter challenges. It dries fairly smooth and I just applied one coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast to achieve a completely glossy and smooth finish.

Then on Tuesday I found absolutely awesome nail mail from my wonderful friend Jezz - aka Little Miss Nailpolish - in my mailbox. Jezz sent some Isadora lemmings my way, some more gems that I will keep a surprise and THEN a new H&M polish - Moonlight - a sheer dark base filled to the gills with green and blue micro glitter. I was totally literally over the moon and felt an urgent need for some oxygen - LOL - but look at this awesomeness and tell me - isn't this plain gorgeous?

I applied three coats of Moonlight over Essence XXL Nail Thickener. The application was fairly easy and dries to a smooth surface. Dry time is normal. In artificial light Moonlight mostly glows blue, in the shade or normal daylight teal.

For my mum's Birthday bash I wanted to have something classical but with an incredible edgy twist. I am a big fan of Elevation Polish and of Crows Toes. Learning that the two of them have joined forces to create a collaboration duo was one big fan girl moment for me. Elevation Polish created the base color It Is Too F#%*ing Hot - a blue leaning red filled with tiny winy iridescent particles and some bigger glass flecks (??? hope I got that one right :-S). Well it results in glinting raspberry jam on the nails - yummie:

I applied to perfectly easy coats of It Is Too F#%*ing Hot over Essence XXL Nail Thickener. It applies fantastic - the jelly applies so smoothly and evenly already upon the first coat and never looks patchy or streaky :-O!!!!

Crows Toes created the Top Coat to go with it called It Is too F#%*ing Cold - a slightly taupe/mauve tinted base full of fluorescent glitter glowing in all shades of blue and lilac. There are also small green glitter pieces. There is so much glitter in it, it dries slightly bumpy - I just applied one coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast Top Coat that smoothed out any roughness (there wasn't much in the first place) and for the remaining slight bumpiness - I could live with that one easily given the awesomeness of the final result!!!

Together they form an absolutely stunning mani - my 4 year old niece actually requested to immediately leave the party and have me paint her nails the same - a big compliment :-D!!!

I felt so happy with my nails this week - the only issue I had was the hard choices I had to take which ones to apply - LOL!!!

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!
Christine

  1. Gorgeous manis, all of them! I've got the Elevation/CrowsToes duo too this weeks and I think (can't check now, I'm not at home) Moonlight was part of my H&M haul in Oslo :-)

    1. Hi doll - I just KNEW you would love Pic de Sotllo!!! It is a stunner - well Moonlight needs no further explanation, right? Just awesome!!! As for the Collaboration Duo - my 4 year old niece was the only one commenting but then I was the only one with nails done so this does not seem to be a relevant decoration item in my family - oh well, I seem to be the odd ball out of them - LOL!! Viele Küsschen xxx

  5. That blue.... I think I'm about ready for full on dark, rich, and vampy again. All your offerings this week are gorgie, but that blue!
So strange and crazy, the passage of time, seeing your peer group pass from one phase to the next. My Dad's had a rough year, losing two of his siblings and being diagnosed with macular degeneration. :( As my favorite band sings, we're only immortal for a limited time. Gahh, too much empathising tonight... I'm gonna go paint my toes, lol.

    1. Hi sis - oh I am so sorry to hear - I hope your Dad is coping well though!! Indeed time flies - it's been 10 years since we met last and if we wait another 10 years the majority of us will be retired - aaaargh!!! As for the blue: it is insane and I think I could stop buying blue creams here and now after having this, but don't quote me, I probably will find a good excuse any day to get another one -LOL!! Am on my home from work and plan to paint my nails with a vampy shade ;-) <3

  6. Wow, as usual lovely polishes! The blue creme in the beginning made my heart sing! :D And I actually looooved the glitter top coat from Crowstoes in the bottom, it looks like a dupe for a glitter top coat that I love. And I've searched for it so long and hope it's available still, do you know? Or do you know more similar?
The hm polish was cute too but I have tons of similar (not the same hahaha) since before from multiple brands. It's actually the "color" I used the most when I younger. My steady manicure was a french one with that pearly polish on top, and I loooved it.. haha.. I still do but now I vary my self a whole lot more.

    1. Thank you hon <3!!! As for the H&M it is 't as if this shade would be all on its own in my drawer - I have amassed a stack of those dark shimmers ;-P!! Hmmmm that glitter you are referring too - I need to do some thinking here and will let you know. And I forgot - do you have a photo of one of those French manis? I would love to see one ;-)!!!

  7. Hi Christine! Indie polishes are where my heart is, so your NOTD's are always awesome! Wow, I can't pick a favorite! Pic de Sotllo is just a wonderful blue. I always fall in love with those rich, creamy looking blues! Especially when such a fun glitter topper is layered over it. H&M Moonlight is pretty magical too. That color shift? It's something special! And last but not least, the CrowsToes/Elevation Polish duo. They are both gorgeous seperately, but together??!! Oh my gosh! It's wonderful!
