Elevation Tuesday: Prusik or Loop It

One of my very favorite effects in a polish are flakies. Of course there are the unrivalled Nfu Oh's but there are others catching up.  And since we have Tuesday it is time for a flakie from Elevation Polish. Today it is Prusik or Loop It and of course there is no escape from a little eduction about the name. Prusik is the name of a knot used in mountain climbing. The knot is named after its inventor, Klaus Prusik who developed it in 1931. In hindsight the second part of the name "loop it" should give a hint ;-)!

Prusik or Loop It is a medium blue jelly filled with loads and loads of blue shimmer and pearl white / silver flakies.

I applied three coats of Prusik or Loop It over Essence Hardening Nail Base. It applies as a true jelly - rather sheer upon the first coat but buildable. At two coats you would see still some VNL but the color is brighter. If you prefer opacity a third coat is needed which darkens the color a tad to a saturated medium blue. Dry time is normal on the slow side. The finish of the polish on its own is dulled but  smooth. One coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer added a wonderful glossy finish.

Final thoughts: Prusik or Loop It is a perfect all-year-round medium toned blue - not too bright, not too muted. The shimmer and the flakies remind me of Lapis. The flakies do not add sparks or shine but add dimension and life to the the polish.

I bought Elevation Polish Prusik or Loop It with their own e-shop here.

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!

  2. You and your gorgeous blues... Thanks for the education on the name, too, it's a cool name and nice to have a background on it. It looks like it would be a gorgeous base to a certain blue based Nfu-Oh flakie ♥♥♥

    1. Hi sis - thank you <3!!! I have to admit, I am a bit obsessed with understanding the names of the Elevation Polishes. There are other brands out there who just trow armslenght names at you and before you finish reading them you already lost interest in why the polish got that name. I am glad you don't mind me sharing my Wikipedia finds with you!! And of course I have to try that Nfu Oh Flakie over it........... brilliant idea, thank you sis xxx
