Nubbins week: Crows Toes Tequila Sunrise

I like medium long nails - well, for me this means long nails. I wlaked this planet for many years with nubs. Most of the time I feel pretty good with this medium lenght, i.e. looking at them or painting them. But that constant clack clack clack when typing - and I type a lot as an Admin Assistant - gives me THE CREEPS!!! Last Friday I could not stand it any longer and chopped them off merciless. Polish-wise this means noticeable less space to paint my nails. It means chunky glitters and studs stand out disproportionally large against the size of my nails. Or Effect Top Coats just loose their amp when not enough space on the nail. So this means for my nubbies I need to change my usualy polish pattern a bit. This week will show all my nubbins-favorites.

And I want to start with a real stunner: I indulged in buying many of Crows Toes polishes of the springTHIS Collection - just look at the gorgeous Tequila Sunrise:

I applied three coats of Tequila Sunrise over Zoya Anchor Base Coat. Isn't the greenish shimmer just mesmerizing??? I applied those three coats with a featherlight hand to avoid brush strokes. The formula is great - the first coat goes on sheer and can look patchy. A second medium thick coat levels everything out. I find the consistency hard to describe - who would want to read "perfect", "applied in a breeze" etc on and on? Well, the consistency is sheer though not runny. The soft and narrow brush holds a perfect amount of polish that is acting nearly like a cream though we don't talk glue or glop here.

I like Tequila Sunrise best at three coats - max shimmer, max saturated base color ;-)!!! For those who wonder how Tequilla Sunrise looks at two coats I added a photo showing it at two coats - while the shimmer is pretty strong the pink is less saturated and intense than at three coats:

Final thoughts: I am not into pinks but Tequila Sunrise most certainly is one big exception!!! It's green shimmer makes it über-cool (yep, one of those weird, in dictionaries not really existing words, but I swear, I repeatedly read it in American VOGUE!!!). Crows Toes is in my eyes one of the coolest - or hottest - Indie Brands out there and I am so ready to see the new shades!!!!

I ordered Crows Toes Tequila Sunrise with Llarowe.

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!

  1. Hi pet! Wow! What an awesome polish!!! I feel like a Tequila Sunrise now!! :P That shimmer is magic! It looks so good on your nubbins! Which by the way are not that short! I've seen a lot shorter nails!!! When I'm writing this comment I am somehow utterly aware of the click sounds created by my right now loooong nails ;) I don't mind though ;) Have a great evening pet!! Viele Küsschen!!! xxx

    1. Hi doll, thank you love <3!!! The shimmer makes this pink really above and beyond, no? I feel that my nails are short - I did not cut them back so much since weeks. And imagine, I am working in open space and everybody is tapping away quietly except for one person - it makes me feel so alien - LOL!!!! Have a lovely evening too - viele Küsschen xxx

  6. Gorgeous shade!! I know what you mean by the clack clack typing sound - I hate it too but it depends of what kind of keyboard !!

    1. Hi Vicky - thank you <3!!! Haha - I agree, different keyboards make a change, but last week I got annoyed with ANY typing surface, this is usually the time when I realize I should give my nails a trim ;-)

  7. Salut ma belle, another gorgeous shade very "Christine"! Look at the shimmaaaa! so lovely.
I've also shorten my nails last night! I got several "nail accidents" during holidays, though I had already shorten them a bit before leaving, but playing with baby on the sand can be tough for long nails, lol
I totally agree with you that certain colours look best with short nails. I personally prefer bold, fiery shades, or neon colours with shorter nails. don't know exactly why??
can't wait to see what's next in your nubbins week! bisous, xxx

And thank you so much - I am having an own style - whoa, I feel very honored :-) <3!!!!! I love neons on shorter nails best too - and bold colors - so I hope you will like my choices for this week (or most of them) :-D - Bisous xxx

    1. Thank you <3 :-)!!!!! It is nearly duochrome, no? Or maybe it is just those tons of shimmer that twists and changes the color in different lightning - well described, thank you :-D
