The Nail Junkie Fish

The last couple of days we lived through a major heat wave in Switzerland. On Saturday the highest temperatures were measured in the village next to where I live: 37,7° C / 99.86° F. And I swear in my backyard it was well over 40° C / 104° F. Why I mention this here? I had to adapt my choice of polishes - as stated repeatedly - many behave badly, strange, weird. This week I show you a selection of polishes that despite the temperatures remained impeccable performers.

You might have seen two of my nails painted with The Nail Junkie Fish (from the Animal Collection) for my last week's Saturday Skittelette. Fish is such a unique and stunning polish - plus this is a new to my stash brand AND the shopping with Aleta was such a wonderful experience that I simply had to devote a full post to this polish.

Fish is one of the most complex polishes I own - and gosh, this is one statement from me if I look at my nailpolish drawers - LOL!!! To make it simple I for once copy Aleta's text from her description as I would not be able to put it more accurately and to the point:

A blue-silver-holo polish that as multifaceted as the glimmering scales of a fish. Fish is a blend of fine green and blue glitters, sapphire holo glitter, silver holo glitters swimming in a flashy pool of metallic silvery blue base

And now just look at this awesomeness:

the above two pictures are taken indoors in daylight, the below photos outdoors, the first in the shade, the second in the sun

I applied two coats of Fish over Zoya Anchor Base Coat and finished the mani with one coat of A England The Shield. I am sure I could have smoothed out the look of the surface of my nails (did you note I mentioned  just the look - by the touch the surface was very smooth and only minimally bumpy). I actually loved how the polish gives a scale like look like this.

The formula is perfect, the application a matter of minutes as is the dry time. I experienced no glitter clumping and the glitter is spread nice and evenly in the bottle and flows easily from the brush onto the nail. HOWEVER, beware of removal. I always use the old method - elbow grease and swearing, I still prefer this over any other - but you might be more comfortable with the foil removal or using a peel-off base coat (of which I haven't tried any).

Final thoughts: My dear blogger friend Jezz from Little Miss Nailpolish has put this polish in one perfect sentence: it looks like the scales of a fairy fish!

But we are not yet at the end of this post. I also wanted to show you what lovely gifts Aleta added to my order. This is a picture of all my stuff ordered and her envelope holding the surprise (when ordering I did not see her mentioning the gift so this was a real wonderful surprise for me!):

I got a small stack of fleece and a wonderfully cute Cutie Balm (awesome by the way):

Overall this was a wonderful shopping experience that lifted the excitement of ordering new polishes to a shopping EVENT!!!

I ordered The Nail Junkie Fish with Aleta's Etsy Shop here.

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!
Christine

    1. Hi Melissa, thank you xxx - so it is not only me who wants to have nails looking like fish :-D!!! I also thought such lovingly wrapped and sent orders deserve some stage time. I see the time and effort that goes into it and I find this immensely considerate from Aleta - in my eyes this is not a given :-)!!!
