Nire's Desire Levitate

It is such a shame, but while we enjoy a lovely spring here, this just never ever applies to my swatching time.  But there, late Friday afternoon my apartment was all of a sudden filled with sunlight and yours truly took a mad dash to the swatching table and grasped a random bottle of Nire's Desire latest collection Techno 2.

This is Nire's Desire Levitate. A beautifully bright medium blue with a soft linear holo mostly in turquoise and gold and some red (let's admit this right here: I did not manage to capture any of the red for my pictures - aaargh). The shimmer is so strong, that it covers the holo effect in most of my pictures but there is the one or the other red spark in the below photos.

I applied two coats of Nire's Desire Levitate over my regular Base Coat. The formula is very creamy for a holo and highly pigmented. The consistent makes Levitate easy to control and already your first coat goes on nearly opaque. However, I would suggest you work rather with thinner than thicker coats as Levitate has a tendency to create polish swirls if applied too thickly. Repeated brushstrokes over the same area while the polish is still wet is not advisable either.  You will drag the polish way all over the nail. The dry time is not overly fast though within normal ranges but beware, while the polish feels dry to the touch it is still highly sensitive to dents and even slight pressure. Slapping on a layer of fast drying Top Coat and keeping your activities light for a good half an hour after application is the way to go with this baby.

Final thoughts: Nire's Desire Levitate is beautiful, gorgeous, bright, happy! I love that the shimmer is so dominant and the holo gets a back voice "only" here. Don't get me wrong, I love me some holo but as of late I started to feel a tendency to repetition with them. Levitate looks to me like a step outside that box and onto new ways of working holos into a polish.

I ordered Nire's Desire Levitate with Erin's own Etsy Shop. Erin ships internationally and above all is a super sweet person. I have an inkling, that this will not be the last of her collections I splurged on ;-)

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!

    1. Phew!! I am so happy some of the sparks made it to my photos - I looked at them while I had Levitate still on my nails and compared to IRL the photos suck with regard to the red sparks - thank you hon xxx

  2. It trips me out that holo formulas can still be so tricky! This is a beaut, though, and you did indeed capture the red, particularly in shots 3 & 4. I agree about the repetititiveness (actual word??? lol), though. It seems we've now seen every holo color under the sun and it's great, but fresh and new is necessity. Glam has been doing holo with shimmer and glassfleck since last year and it's nice to see another indie "get it" now, too.

    1. Thank you sis <3! I think the attempt of getting holos so pigmented to be able to get away at one coat might be a challenge plus adding additional effects! However this one was worth the time it took (and then I am an NPA and should be willing to invest an appropriate amount of time into doing my nails). Agreed re holos - there are only so many blues or reds one needs - need to check out those Glams - thanks for the tip xxx

  4. Ah the number of times I see the sun peak out, grab a polish, paint my nails, run to the window, only to have the sun disappear behind thick gray clouds. >< I'm glad it worked out for you this time. This beauty looks amazing with all that natural light. The subtle holo is so pretty and the color is so intensely blue. There's nothing bad I can say about it. :)

    1. Hahaha then we are two!!! Patience is a virtue and running up and down stairs is healthy - for once my mental and physical work-out paid-off. It is a truly insane blue and IRL the holo is a nudge or two above the one on the pictures so this definitely goes down as a show stopper in my books <3
