You ask me any given day about the color combination of teal/turquoise and magenta/pink and I turn all green and start doing ugly noises and go nooooooo wayyyyyyyyyy this is too eighties, early nineties. You fill these colors in nail polish bottles and my brain starts spinning of how to throw them together - there, finally something seemed to have stuck somewhere from those decades inside me, eh?
For the below Skittelette I choose a more peach than pink cream to frame my else turqoise/teal choices. As of late and with the longer days I get round to practise basic nailart techniques and grandients would be so cool - if I could ever muster them... So the other day, I was doing gradients and yes, I am showing mercy and save you from the view of if, and with all tolerance, understanding and justifying only one nail per hand made it to my standard of acceptable. Let's put a veil of ignorance over the fail of the others and rather look at what I teamed up with my lone, single gradient per hand:
Pinkie and index: two coats of Picture Polish Marine
Ring: two coats of Elevation Polish Pa'ako
Middle: Picture Polish Marine and Picture Polish Honey Dew sponged over white
The turquoise colored stud I placed on my ring lifted the mani from a tad bland to more complete if you know what I mean?
Final thoughts: I think those Skittelettes are really the best way to conceal my inability to produce 10 similar looking designs - LOL! My trick is that I paint 2-3 nails per hand with a certain technique keeping only the one or twos I like best and compose the Skittelette around it.
I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!

You are so adorable! This looks wonderful, I never would've thought '80s with this color combo but then again, I wasn't paying much attention outside of lusting after name brand Keds and ESPRIT bags, lol. Your gradient really is perfection to my eyes, and I commend you on your perseverance. It's so fun, watching you grow in your art skills ♥ And great call with the stud, it really does add the perfect amount of sprucing up.
ReplyDeleteThank you sis!!! Oh those colors were big here back then - but those were the days pre internet so I believe trends and fashions were not yet a global but rather a regional phenomenon!! Aww you are too kind - I tell you I was just lucky that one gradient turned out so well! I want to buy less polish (are you rolling on the floor laughing yet?) and trying nailart seems to take my mind from Etsy and Bigcartel - LOL!!! <3
DeleteWhat a gorgeous combo! :D I love your gradient too, looks just perfect! And I love the metal stud! I haven't seen them in metallic colors more than gold/silver/bronze so this was interesting. Must get out and buy some ^^
ReplyDeleteThank you Gelic!! Wow I never thought I could show you something nailart related you never saw before - I ordered them with Pshiiit and got myself quite a couple of colors - wonder though why I took squares - it is much harder to place them correctly than round ones - oh well!!! Thanks for your sweet and supportive comment xxx
DeleteSuch a great skittelette! I absolutely love your gradient!
ReplyDeleteThank you hon- you liking my gradient really, really means so much to me <3
DeleteI like this combo - the colours you've used are really nice and go well together. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much - I have to admit, I was surprised to see the colors play so well together ;-) <3
DeleteAww, just look at that gradient! You're a top nail artist where have you been hiding your talent :) I love your skitteletes, they're always spot on sophistication and trend. It's really difficult to do them I tend to "surcharger" and my skittles tries look terrible, too much of everything. I think you must be a very very chic lady :)
ReplyDeletebisous ma biche, xxx
Hahahaha you are giving me too much credit ma belle, I am afraid, I am still a rookie by all means and invest hours and hours practicing. Oh don't say this about your skittles it is so NOT true but of course I am more than happy that you like my Skittlettes. About me being chic - well, I cannot judge myself but I was told that I have a cool elegance about me (by a male friend, so I consider it true) - I hope you will be able to judge soon with your own eyes as I hope we can realize our gathering soon!!! Bisous xxx
