Happy St Patrick's Day

I am no way close to being Irish - I am plain Swiss (or nearly so) but hey, any day is a good day for going for green nail polish - no?

Slapping on some happy green for today gave me a good excuse to dive into the cave and look for untrieds - older untrieds that is, and look what I found? Essie Mojito Madness. This perfect bright green was released as part of Essie's Summer Collection of 2012 - and yes, it sat since then unopened in my Alex (consider me flushing ashamedly).

I applied two coats of Essie Mojito Madness over Essence Hardening Nail Base. The formula was nice enough, maybe a tad on the runny side, wiping off my brush was core to prevent polish flood on my nails. Dry time was rather quick and the finish pretty shiny, to achieve the squishiness my photos show, I finished the mani with Sally Hansen Insta Dry.

My second St. Patrick's mani features another Elevation Polish: Cuernos del Paine - a soft, soft lime green on the verge of being a pastel.

I applied two effortless coats of Elevation Polish Cuernos del Paine over Maybelline Express Protecting Nail Coat. The formula is superb, the polish has the perfect creamy consistency and goes on nearly without streaks. I still prevent going over the same area twice and waited some minutes in between the two coats. Cuernos del Paine dries rather fast and to a lovely shine and smooth finish.

To add some St. Patrick's feel I brought forward Lynnderella All Hallow's Eve - still my favorite green glitter - and mattified it with Mentality Matte Top Coat.

Final thoughts: there are too few St Patrick's Day in the year - or I should simply go more for green - I love this color so much and end up wearing it way to seldom.

I cannot remember where I got Essie Mojito Madness from - it is too long ago. I ordered Elevation Polish through their own website here and I received Lynnderella All Hallow's Eve from my wonderful friend Radha aka @nailpolishsnob in Instagram.

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for stopping by!!!
Christine

  1. Both are great St Paddy's manis! I LOVE they Lynn over the Elevation but that Mojito Madness... it's gorgie and really is your perfect green! And I hear you, too few opportunities to wear green polish... Perhaps we both need to create more, lol. Would you believe I actually forgot as I did my nails last night? *facepalm* Have a great day, sis ♥♥

  2. Love both of your green manis! Mojito Madness is super gorgeous on you! Hehe I don't need an opportunity to wear green cause I make up my own. ;) I wear it all the time... green is probably my favorite color for nails. :D

  5. Gorgeous overload! I love green, in any occasion! I really liked mojito madness, I've skipped buying it before because I thought it looked to be green to the blue side, but it didn't look like that in your photos, not as much as I first thought. I also loooooved the glitter; All Hallow's Eve. So awesome and your matte version was just the perfect!

    1. Hi Gelic - oh Mojito Madness is as green as green can go, like directly taken from the color wheel. Despite the Lynn being a Holiday glitter, I find it year round perfect depending on what you layer it over! Thanks sweetie xxx

  6. I love both of these...especially that glitter over the Elevation. That looks just so pretty and festive. I actually forgot that I was wearing brown polish the night before St. Patrick's Day...I woke up around midnight and grabbed an emerald green texture and slapped it on. Back in bed in no time. :P Ahh, the crazy life of a polish freak.

    1. Haha, I love that bit of you jumping out of bed!!! Thanks to Instagram I am now more aware of any of those days that call for a theme and for once I got it on my nails timely ;-)! That Lynn looks so festive no matter what base - I love it best over pastels and neutrals to let it do all the talk ;-) <3 - thank you <3

  7. Ohh no need to feel ashamed that Mojito Madness was untried until now! I keep amassing polish faster than I can use it... but new pretties are SO hard to resist! ;) I have MM and LOVE it! I typically don't gravitate to greens, but I saw it in an Ulta and snatched it up without a moment's hesitation. hehe I also used it for a very cute pedicure last summer, so there's another way to wear more greens. :) That soft, soft lime Elevation is making me crave a piece of key lime pie - and I don't even like key lime pie! LOL And it's a truly beautiful combo with that Lynn and mattified! A fabulous choice, dear!! :D

    1. Thank you sweetie xxx!!!!! I know - those polishes pile up quicker than we can paint our nails!! MM must look lovely as pedi - but I would never go green on my toes - I have super ugly feet and giving them a green mani makes them look like Shrek's feet - I swear!!!!!! I am sure MM looks absolutely stunning on you - swoon......
