Cadilacquer Seek the Fire

I am very exited to do a full week of Cadillacquer polishes!!! Madeleine released mid-February her Collection for Spring 2014 named Seek the Fire inspired by a video game.

I give a head start with the name sake polish from this collection - Seek the Fire. This is a mid-tone blue jelly filled with red glitter. Sounds simple - you agree? But then the simplest things can be the most captivating - look:

I applied two coats of Cadillacquer Seek the Fire over my regular base coat. The formula is a true jelly though well pigmented and while the first coat looks sheer (AND even) the second coat provides opacity and still enough see-through for the glitters to remain visible. Dry time is normal. Once dry, the jelly is incredibly shiny though the glitter gives a slightly uneven finish.  Slapping on a "healthy dose" of Glisten&Glow HK Girl Top Coat evened out any bumpiness and maintained the high shine.

And since this high shine was really distracting from the beautiful color combination I mattified the whole thingy - but mind you, I ran out of matte-matte Top Coat so I went for this wax finish which finally grows on me more and more if used over a glitter mani. I applied one coat of Cult Nails Wax That.

Final thoughts: I repeat my statement from the beginning of this post - sometimes the simplest things can look best and since I love blue and red seeing the two of them thrown together Seek the Fire was a clear must-have for me! The dusty blue prevents this polish from shifting into cartoon area and keeps it despite the "loud" color combination safely on classy and mature level. Very work appropriate for me!

I order my Cadillacquer polishes directly from their own Bigcartel site here.

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!
Christine
