Opi Alcatraz Rocks

You know what, my dear readers? I have had it! I am exhausted by my two and a half weeks long marathon through parties and dinners. While my Holiday break is my most favorite of the year, it usually leaves me knackered and exhausted at the end. Too much food, too many late hours, I miss my structure and routine and I want to be back in my normal day to day life. There you have it, I am a girl needing some boundaries and a patterned day to day life. By now I miss my sports routine, my colleagues from work and a regular good night of sleep.

Polish-wise I would like to get one untried number off my rack of untrieds that sits there since much too long, especially considering in how many "best of" lists it appeared and all I could do was agree to the pictures but with only an idea how I will like it on my nails. Since all has been said and written about Alcatraz Rocks without further ado on to the photos:

the above pictures are taken indoors in day and artificial light, the below photo outside in the shade

I applied two coats of Opi Alcatraz Rocks over Essence Hardening Nail Base. The formula is textured perfection - no more words needed. Dry time is what we came to expect, a tad longer but I still find those textured numbers the perfect quick to go option for a mani. Side note: We saw pictures of textured polishes with high shine Top Coat left and right, I don't know about you, but I always wondered how many layers of Top Coat are needed to get a smooth and glossy result. I am testing on one of my nails of my Cinderella hand and as I type this I am at three generous coats and the result is not yet entirely smooth though at least very shiny. And no, I don't like the slight bumpiness so I will continue to wear my textured as well, textures ;-)

Final thoughts: Opi Alcatraz Rocks is indeed a beautiful textured polish and I might put myself out there all on my own but it leaves me while exited not jumping up and down. The pictures above are honestly more beautiful than what it looked IRL I find. My favorite Opi Liquid Sand is Stay the Night - still ;-).

I bought Opi Alacatraz Rocks with Manor in Basel.

I haven't shared a picture of Nell in a while - so here is His Fluffy Furiness observing the night:

Side note: Those following me on Instagram might have seen my best IG moments of 2013 Statigram - guess who was there all over? Yep Mr. Nell :-D! The photos I posted from him outranked my nails by the dozen - ehem, I might have to reconsider my nail polish picture posts there - LOL!!!

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for stopping by!!!
Christine

  1. Ooh, I still need to get this one, too. Last time I ordered some OPIs (they're just too expensive to buy here), it was sold out. But I won't give up :-)

    1. This certainly is a true win for your collection! I think you would do some awesome Skittelettes with it ;-)! And yep, they are wayyyy to expensive here. I must have been in a terrible polish-need mood to have gotten it here ;-P

  2. Salut Christine! I completely understand you and share your feeling! I'm more than exhausted from these short Holidays, I'm missing my routine and also the little one goes to bed way too late and the day is endless!! Conclusion: I only like Holidays when they're by the beach and someone else is doing the household, LOL!
Alcatraz Rocks! I like this one a lot! I don't have many textured polishes (yet) so it's one of my favourites so far :) I love your new blog lay out and your larger pictures, I can see every detail! Have you also changed your camera? Bisous! Bonne rentrée!

    1. Salut ma belle, hahaha I get you so well too!! My friends and I did it simple - we always went to a restaurant - each of us got the food we preferred and no disaster kitchen waiting for us once the guests left ;-)! Thank you so much - I have to admit, I haven't really bought a lot more textures. While I like those I have, they also are sort of limited, like creams. There comes the day when you realize you got all the colors you like so what next? You know what I mean? This doesn't apply to glitters or shimmers however and considering my ever growing stash. Thank you as well for your supportive comment about the layout changes. About my camera - ehem, I feel a bit awkward to admit, but I take all my pictures with my iPhone. I think the x-large size has boosted my ambition to really get good photos ;-) - bisous - oh and I have another two days until I go back to work though I already feel so much more energetic and active with all the chores I plan to do and have done already this morning ;-) xxx

  3. It looks beautiful on you Christine! I don't remember the amount of topcoats I put to make this one unbumpy but it was definitely something around 3 if I remember it right :)
Oh and while I still think Alcatraz.. rocks is a beautiful textured polish, Kiss me at Midnight won over Alcatraz... rocks for me in my top 5 for last year ;D
