La Couleur Couture 1940

This week I will show you my new reds!!!! This season some really breathtaking red nail polishes have been released from left to right and I do love a good red on any day.

Any of you remember the launch of the Canadian brand La Couleur Couture from earlier this year? They have released a set of creams named after years rather than those endless long names we come across every so often in the nailpolish world. A couple of weeks ago their Fall Collection was presented and I could not get around ordering some - from where you might ask? Directly from their website - a link to their shop is listed at the end of this post. So it is no big surprise for you to that I just had to have 1940 - a deep, dark, vampy red reminding me of "Le" Chanel Rouge Noir.

The above pictures are taken indoors in daylight, the below photos outside in the shade

and in artificial light:

I applied two coats of La CC 1940 over Essence Hardening Nail Base. 1940 has a jelly formula, while not very pigmented the formula is easy to control and you will not need to reach for your clean-up items, it is that easy to apply. Dry time is about normal. 1940 dries rather shiny but I like those super dark reds with super high shine, I therefore applied Essence Better Than Gel Nails High Gloss (which is not available anymore).

Final thoughts: There was a time in my life - well actually it was about two years - when I solely and only wore Chanel Rouge Noir on my nails, day in and out, year in and out. I am sure you agree that I have owned my share of Rouge Noir bottles and so far I haven't felt tempted to buy a new one but my preference for those blackened reds have persisted over time and to the day I cannot get around buying the one or the other and La CC 1940 certainly is earning its place in the Pantheon of the blackened reds. In short - I am in love with LaCC 1940!!!

I ordered La CC 1940 with the website of La Couleur Couture here. Laccbeauty ships internationally.

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!

  1. Gorgeous!! This looks just like the Rouge Noir lookalike Sinful Colors Mirror Mirror that Liesl showed. You just gotta love a super juicy, vampy dark red. <3
