Textured Finish Week: Kiko Sugar Mat 634

My dear friend Antonella returned from her mini-break with some Kiko surprises for me in her bag. Both of them are from Kiko's Sugar Mat line and my first textured finishes from this brand. 634 is a pale pink - and once more proof that only because I would not naturally gravitate towards those pale pinks it doesn't mean that it would not be drop dead gorgeous:

the above two pictures are taken indoors in daylight, the below photo outside in the sun

I applied two coats of Kiko 634 over Essence XXL Nail Thickener. This polish so far had the trickiest formula of all textured polishes I tried. The first coat goes on sheer if not patchy if applied too thinly and your brush "will run out of fuel" halfway through painting one nail. When medium thick coats are applied one has to be really careful to prevent polish pooling which will lead to glops that swallow the texture. My advice would be to find an amount of polish somewhere in-between which is the tricky part. Dry time is on the longer side. Despite all of this the result floored me. Just perfect, perfect, perfect. I found the look neat, pretty yet set apart from that all too appropriate (please read that word with an aloof raised eyebrow) thanks to the textured finish.

Antonella, you cheered my heart, your choice was superb, you are the best - grazie mille <3!!!

Kiko polishes are unavailable in the part of Switzerland I live. So these gems are a true treasure in my stash!!!

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!
Christine

  1. Hi pet! This was a pretty pink! I think it suits you! Helpful tips because I got two Kiko Sugar Mat polishes from Barcelona last week :D My boss was there and got them for me. Right before she cut down my hours >:-(
Now I can't wait to try them!! I got the blue and the burgundy one. Both have a spot of glitter in them. Have a great evening! Stay away from the footie ;) Puss, puss!! xxx

    1. Hi sweetie - thank you :-)!!!! Now I think there is quite a difference between glittery and non-glittery texture. Glitter seems to keep the sauce together - I found the application of the blue Kiko a lot easier. I am sure the blue will look awesome on you - just like the green did!!! I could stay at moderate distance to the footie - what about you? Have a lovely evening - viele Küsschen xxx

  2. Wow, this is so cute! I really liked this, it's so feminine and still rough with the texture going on! :D I which CG's new pastel texture collection could look like this...in reality it looked really blah :(

  3. Texture polishes really are just everywhere now, aren't they? Love the color of this one... that hint of lavender in the pink is really pretty. :)

    1. Hi Yun - I was astonished to see them popping up left and right at this speed but good for us - the variety and range to choose from is so nice. And of course this is a very "Yun-shade" if you know what I mean - I love it too <3!!!

  4. Love this color!! Pink with lavender undertones is the prettiest color ever. Well...maybe not EVER, but it's right up there with teal. :D

  6. Salut Christine! Lovely, lovely shade of pink!! Makes me think of cotton candy! Sometimes the results are worth the struggle with formulas, and this one certainly does.
    bisous ma belle!

    1. Salut chère Nati!! Oh merci mille fois!!! You are so right - cotton candy - how appropriate :-). I agree, especially with this one - the struggle is totally manageable but I still like to point out the issues that maybe a less skilled nail painter might experience or get annoyed about. - Bisous pour toi aussi xxx
