My NOTDs of the week

I have used Picture Polish two weeks ago in one of my Saturday Skittelettes (well I added two or three dots with this polish) and I realized that this polish has not yet gotten the attention it deserves here:

I applied two coats of Picture Polish Water Melon over Essence XXL Nail Thickener and used Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer to finish the look. Now not only application of Water Melon was impeccable - its wear as well. I wore it for three days and there was hardly any tipwear to be detected!!!

My wonderful friend Antonella brought me a bunch of Sinful Colors back from London and Mint Apple was another polish I used in one of my recent Skittelettes on one nail only - so here it is as full mani. I applied three coats of Sinful Colors Mint Apple over Zoya Anchor Base Coat and finished it with Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer. It was a bit streaky on the first coat, got better with the second and looked perfect after the third coat.

One of my favorite polish watering holes, Pshiiit Boutique, offers since a couple of weeks a new to me brand: The New Black. The stock offered by Pshiiit Boutique consists of sets of assorted nailpolish and nailart items (through the link posted above you may explore the stock of The New Black). While the assorted sets for ombre skittles or the sets holding nailart items were always tempting, I was a bit hesitant as I had no idea of the overall performance or the handling of the items. To make the long story short Fashionpolish has shown us one of those sets - link to post here - and I set out to order The New Black Christina Rinaldi Digital Underground Rebel Edge for myself.

The camel and the grey polish are creams. The white is very pearly and the black holds golden shimmer particles. The fifth bottle (on the far left) holds square and round studs in silver and gold.

The black polish is wonderfully creamy and maybe just a tad thickish (due to the shimmer particles). One coat is certainly enough for an opaque look if carefully applied, I did two. The camel polish is simple perfection - very pigmented and perfect formula. If carefully applied, you might get away with one coat - anyhow, I always apply two coats. The grey polish is thinner and nearly moves onto jellyish territory. But when applied lightly you get it nice and opaque in two coats. The studs are awesome. They are small enough that they fit perfectly onto the nail and no sticking out or poking edges. I added them when the second coat of polish was still slightly sticky and pressed them very lightly onto my nail. Then I sealed its trims with Top Coat - done. They wore amazingly well, I did was my hair, done lots of dishwashing (yes, I am my own dishwasher) and they stayed firm in place. Removal was very easy with regular nailpolish dissolvant. They just nicely got swooped away by my cotton ball.

The only less stellar performance was given by the white polish. It gives A LOT of brush strokes and would look best at two coats. I gave it two tries as I so very much wanted to add a different finish to this Skittlette but bowed my brush as I simply could not manage getting a moderately decent brushstroke free finish ONCE.

I finished the week with a classic red mani: La Couleur Couture 1945 is the highly saturated and pigmented epitome of a classic bright red:

I applied two effortless coats of La Couleur Couture 1945 over Zoya Anchor Base Coat and used Dior Gel Top to finish the look. Again the formula is immaculate and the wear excellent.

Of course I would like to know your favorites - and what was the favorite YOU wore this week?

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!
Christine

    1. Hi Emma, thank you so much - this red is a real stunner and it is not the first time I had it on my nails. I could not post about the first mani, it looked horrible beyond words as I totally messed-up the application ;-P

    1. Hi Ina, I totally understand your consideration - if we would live close, I'd throw you my set over to try it ;-)!!! I gave in because I wanted to have such a camel (I think to combine it with one of the Nfu Oh Mor), the black and the studs. Mint Apple is stunning!! But we both seem to jump on anything aqua colored for this spring ;-) <3
