Pahlish Ghost Lights from the Midsummer Bonfires Set

Hello guys - last Sunday was just one of THOSE days - I wanted to show you a stamping decal and I screwed my decal up - badly - UGH! Mind you, I did not give up but went for two more rounds only to make things worse, not even plain stamping worked - alas it seemed to have been one of those days. So I have a plain mani for you but OH!MY!GOSH! what a pretty polish that is.

I am on a roll about Pahlish Ghost Lights that was released as part of the Midsummer Bonfire Set (which currently is on sale!!!!!!) According to the Pahlish Bigcartel Site it is a "turquoise teal creme with soft blue shimmer and turquoise bleu flakes". I copied this straight from their site as I frankly could not possibly come up with a better and more apt description.

I took a picture in an idle moment at the office on the window sill - hehe

Pahlish Ghost Lights has an absolutely fantastic formula. It is pigmented, very creamy and spreads nicely on the nails. Now the downside of the creamy formula is that it is not absolutely self leveling. Working thin coats is the road to take in my opinion and wait the first coat to dry before taking off to round two. But then we have crappy humidity since weeks, I suspect it hampers the behavior of my polishes significantly.

Sometime last year, I promised to also show my failings - so let's face my decal disaster and let's start with the Skittelette:
Pinkie, index and thumb: two coats of Pahlish Ghost life
Ring: three coats of Pahlish Charn
Middle: two coats of Pahlish Midsummer Skies

And then I went for the stamping decal on the middle

You see that blotch of coral in the middle of the nail? That is to cover up the ripping of the decal and I actually fidgeted the torn part to the tip of my nail. What were my mistakes? Well, firstly, I did not apply a thick enough coat of Top Coat on the painted image on my stamper. And second, I did not only press the decal too hard on the nail but apparently also pulled it - no wonder it tore :-S! So my summary: doing your own stamping decals is EASY!!! The tricky part is to have an even coat of Top Coat on your stamper and to use whether too little nor too much pressure when fixing it onto your nails. That all being said IRL the failing was not evident and much to my astonishment, I got a fair number of compliments!!!!

I purchase my Pahlish polishes directly from their Bigcartel shop here.

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!

  1. Oh this polish looks a bit different! The colour with the blue bits and shimmer - I kinda like it :-)

I've never used decals before - just stickers and they are so, so easy to use! I've got some Breaking Bad Decals that I bought ages ago that I will need to get around to using!!!!

You'd never notice there was anything wrong with it! You did well to cover it up ;-)

    1. Thank you my dear Ananka! It really is a quite captivating shade and despite my huuuuge number of any shade slightly leaning turquoise, it doesn't resemble a single one!!! Decals are a piece of cake to use, you will love it - most of them anyhow or if you are not as clumsy as me. In the end I seem to do better if I do them myself as above - oh and thank you for your kind words - me knowing the flaw did not really help, I stared on that nail all day feeling annoyed - LOL!!!

    1. Thank you lovey xxx!!! I actually like doing those decals - you can really incorporate them perfectly into your mani and I bet you have more than one stamper too, so you could also prepare a couple of them at the same time ;-)

  4. Awesome shade! I love your "office pic" I really enjoy seeing nail polish in full hands if that makes any sense. I've never tried stamping decals but I think they are fantastic and sound very difficult to achieve, so I'm taking note of your tips :)

    1. Merci mille fois ma belle!!! And thank you for the hint - I will incorporate more full hand pictures as of now. I did do them for a while and then stopped because I thought they are not well received. For me personally, I appreciate seeing the full hand too - it sort of gives an impression of what a polish looks like when seen from a distance. Now rest assured, the decals are NOT difficult to achieve - the only tricky part is adjusting them on your nails, the only downside next to that: it is time consuming with all the waiting in between the steps. Please let me know if my tips were helpful - bisous ma biche xxx
