My Indie Brands of the moment: KBShimmer I Get A Crush On Blue

You did not think that you would get around any KBShimmers that week, didn't you? But now on to my reasons of including them in this weeks theme of My Indie Brands of the moment: Range of polishes: check! Wearability: check! Quality: check! Price/value: check! Availability: check! - that says it all, right? I have some more elaborate explanation stored for you at the bottom of this post in case you would be interested.

I have not yet shown all of my new purchases of their Spring 2013 Collection (yes, I bought six of them :-S). Today I am showing you I Get A Crush On Blue. There have been so many posts about this Collection that show I Get A Crush On Blue on its own I decided to do a plain comparison post so no photo shows an equal number of coats.

The above picture is taken indoors in daylight, the below outdoors in the shade

I have repeatedly read that KBShimmer I Get A Crush On Blue can be layered over a blue base to reach more opacity. Again it was my call to oblige. I choose Zoya Song as base for my pinkie, ring and index finger. I applied one coat of Song followed by one coat of I Get A Crush on Blue. My middle finger shows I Get A Crush On Blue on its own to show the difference and I had to apply two coats to get moderately close in opacity to my other fingers.

And now may the glitter fest begin:

the above two pictures are taken indoors in daylight at different angles, the below outdoors in the shade

And this is what you get adding a second respectively a third coat of KBShimmer I Get a Crush On Blue. Whoa this makes me nearly dizzy - insane, wouldn't you say so? My poor iPhone camera went bonkers over all the sparkly, shiny glitters here. Again for comparison I left my pinkie at one coat only.

The formula of I Get A Crush On Blue is thick but not because of the polish but because of the immense amount of glitter. It is a piece of cake to apply and only minor push and shove is required to get the big hex glitters where you want to sit them. Despite the amount of glitter and the size of the big hex pieces it lays flat on the nail and dries not too dull. I think I would get away with one normal coat of Butter London Hardwear Top Coat.

Final thoughts: While I am knocked out of my socks at the sparkiliciousness of wearing either two coats over a base color or three coats on its own, it is sort of too busy for my taste. I rather wear just one coat over the blue base.

What makes KBShimmer so special to me? First and foremost I find the range of their shades amazing. There is something for EVERYONE!!! You can have your blingy glitzy glitters like I Get A Crush on Blue or more muted versions like Elle or Don't Teal Anyone. Their formula is excellent and I have yet to come across a KBShimmer glitter that needs dabbing, shoving, pushing. Their shimmers have a smooth and silky formula that not only glides onto the nail but is also very well performing during my everyday tasks like dishwashing, typing and any other household chores. And as if the range of their collection, the excellence of their performance would not be enough, they come at a decent price of USD 9.00 per bottle. While KBShimmer sells only US wide Harlow & Co ships worldwide, so while their stock usually lasts days only its at least accessible for all us hungry KBShimmer fans around the globe.

Anyone reading this sentence: Wow, I am proud of you to have made it through this massive post - thank you for bearing with me :-) - as a bonus here comes my question: what makes KBShimmer special to you - or in case you don't own any, are you considering buying any?

I order my KBShimmer's with Harlow & Co. They ship internationally, if order sum is over Can$ 50.00 it goes with free shipping and incredibly fast delivery. I hardly EVER have to wait more than 4 days for ANY order. A big Thank You to Katie for making this possible!!!

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!
Christine
