Glisten&Glow You've Been Hazed from Llarowe's A Box Indied for August

Yay my dear nailpolish lovers - I am determined to show you guys all of the five polishes that came in the August A Box Indied within a week :-o!!!

The polish I want to show you today is Glisten&Glow You've Been Hazed Delta Tau Chi Pledge Class (OMG what a name, but this is what the bottom of the bottle reads…). It is a mid-tone greyish blue linear holo that looks like a dark periwinkle in the sun. You've Been Hazed is a classical holo polish (GOSH, did I really just type "classic" in relation to holos? I guess we have reached that stage with all the holos that come with shimmer, flakes, multi-chrome and what have you). But on to pics - ok?

I applied three thin coats of Glisten&Glow You've Been Hazed over my regular Base Coat. And here it shows where this polish doesn't behave like a classic holo - it applied wonderfully and even. Yes, the first coat was sheeeeeeer, and also the second coat did not give the opacity I am looking for in a linear holo. But this little guy behaved so well and dried so quickly a third coat was not taking up a lot of time and given the thinner consistency, you also don't end with a thick coat of polish on your nails. I (of course) finished the mani with Glisten&Glow HK Girl.

Final thoughts: Glisten&Glow You've Been Hazed quite honestly didn't knock me out of my socks. It is lovely mind you and is extremely versatile with regard to skin tone I am sure but maybe I am already too spoilt with regard to holographic polish - it simply didn't really trigger any excitement with me - so sorry for that….

I am subscribing to Llarowe's A Box Indied which is exclusively available with Llarowe and released around the 26 of each month.

I look forward to reading your comments - and as always, thanks for stopping over!!!

  3. It's a very pretty holo and lovely shade! Wow just your regular base? I remember you saying before about the regular base vs the aqua base coat on one of my posts :-)

    1. Thank you love!!!! I always use my regular base coat - except for my NfuOh, Layla and Fnug. All the others are acting like regular polish when applied over regular base coat. I mostly own Indie Brand holos - I cannot judge on those of the bigger brands however. My regular base at the moment is Nailpattern Boldness Digital Hydration - a ridge filler. I also used the Seche Ridge Filler which was great too but has a pearly shine (eh????) that looks weird under a jelly or crelly. xxx

    2. Afterthought: I think the development went two ways: at one hand, I think there are different ingredients available to do holos now that make them behave like a regular polish. On the other hand, I think also Base Coats have improved as I find most of them work for me whereas just a very few years ago finding a ridge filling Base Coat that works was one big quest and once I found one, I clung to it dearly... ;-)

    3. Oh Ananka I am so sorry - another afterthought (where is my head today): Essence has a pretty good ridge filling base coat called XXL Nailstrenghtener. It is a milky white liquid in a cylindric bottle with white/silver/blue label (I seem to recall that you mentioned Essence is available with you?)
