My picks for Spring 2014: Elevation Polish Cerro Torre 2 and Nararsuk

We have spring polish week over here and while I have to admit that all the nude shades were not overly exiting for me - especially after seeing the third or fourth set of them - I could not resist getting myself Elevation Polish Cerro Torre 2 released also in February 2014.

Cerro Torre 2 is a very pigmented slightly grey leaning nude cream. No shine, crelly, jelly or other accents - just a straightforward cream - how nice is this for a change? I do not own the first version of Cerro Torre, so unfortunately I cannot show you a comparison.

I applied two coats thin of Cerro Torre 2 over Seche Ridge Filling Base Coat. The formula is a tiny winy little bit thin for a cream (like melted ice cream). If you apply thin coats and avoid carrying a load of polish on your brush you will not enter flood territory. I would rather go with three thin coats should you not like the opacity at two than slapping on thicker coats. The most astonishing thing was to watch the polish level itself out completely. I literally SAW how any unevenness  disappeared within seconds of application. Dry time is on the fast side and the shine is just beautiful.

Nararsuk was the first glitter I bought from Elevation Polish - another clear based glitter filled with black, turquoise and teal bar and hex glitter and I even saw some black stars in my bottle but I could not fish them out - oh well, it is pretty enough like this:

I painted one coat of Elevation Polish Nararsuk over my Cerro Torre 2 mani. The consistency of Nararsuk is fabulous - there is just the right mix of base polish and glitter to allow an easy paint job. Of course I could have invested some more efforts in trying to get some of those stars out but when applying I totally forgot about them and only when seeing one of those stars blinking smugly at me from the bottle I was reminded of them.

Final thoughts: Elevation Polish Cerro Torre 2 is one of those few nudes that I can wear year round as it fits my skin tone no matter if I am winter pale or got a slight tan. Its selfleveling qualities is outstanding - I don't own any other nude that has this quality.

I ordered Elevation Polish Cerro Torre 2 with Elevation Polish Bigcartel site here.

Thank you for stopping over and I look forward to reading your comments!!!

  1. That's a fantastic nude on you, Christine... very sophisticated and clean. :) I love the combo with the glitters on top too. The colors really pop against the nude polish. :)

    1. Thank you dear Yun xxx!!! I have to admit, that I like clear based glitters better over nudes than white for a yet to be explored reason - LOL! And the nude is just perfect, now the remaining question is why I still bought some more AFTER this one, despite this being as perfect against my skin as I wanted it to be - clearly a nailpolish hoarding syndrome ;-)

  4. The nude reminds me a little of OPI Did You Ear About Van Gogh, a perfect "office color". And as you now, blue glitter always gets my attention :-)

    1. Oh I had no idea as I mostly skip Opi these days, I realize though this would be a court mani for you, right? And Nararsuk is frankly one of the most versatile glitters I own - it goes with so many colors.... - en schöne Tag <3

    1. Thank you hon xxx!!!! That glitter is ne of my favorites - I so far wore it ver nearly any color - well with the exception of yellow (eeeks this might stretch the versatility a bit too much, no?)

  6. Too much of a good thing is still too much, lol. The putty color of this one makes it different and a teeeeny bit edgy and I'm somehow adoring that glitter over it... I must be tired of neutrals, too, given what I've been drawn to lately, lol. This is perfect on you and once again you brilliantly wear what makes my skin resemble death warmed over, lol.

  7. Thank you sis <3!! Waiting for my tram to go home today I saw no less than three ladies sporting a "nude" colored trench which got me musing why "nude" is a term used for varying shades of beige in cosmetics only - probably because the implication of a "nude" trench triggers a weird picture???? I think while we were exited when the first nude collections popped up (thinking Zoya here) this color only gives so much and it is one of those shades that is very difficult to match with anyone's skin tone - one has just a hairline to walk as opposed to reds or pinks... xxx
