Penelope Luz Midas

Sticking to my resolution showing once a week a new to my stash brand I have a wonderful gold leaf Top Coat for you: Penelope Luz Midas. My dearest friend Pri sent me a couple of Penelope Luz in her epic nail mail and when I unwrapped Midas I immediately knew what I want to pair it with.

In the real world I am also a total Pilates addict - since years!!! And many of my companions during those torturing classes have become very close friends. One of them spoils us every Christmas with self-made jewelry and this year she added a bottle of nail polish for each of us four fellow musketeers. Suffering jointly through countless crunches brings you really close, she knows my heart beats for vampies and her pick for me is Opi Lincoln Park After Dark. I think this is the darkest possible red that never looks black.

the above two pictures are taken indoors in day and artificial light, the below photo outside

in artificial light:

I applied one coat of Penelope Luz Midas over two coats of Opi Lincoln Park After Dark. The golden leaves are small to tiny and rather sparsely distributed in the clear base. Turning the bottle upside down before applying is core. So in order to get the shown amount of the shown gold particles on my nails I slapped on my layer pretty thick. On the bright side: the golden snippets float easily in the base and I just had to dab one or two spots to have an even coverage with golden particles. The dry time was surprisingly fast considering the thickness of the layer. Only two particles stood stubbornly out - one layer of Top Coat provided though a very smooth finish. The final look was very gel-like but absolutely not looking thick - which I find amazing considering the amount of polish I slapped on.

Final thoughts: I am absolutely in love with this elegant version of gold leaf Top Coat. Penelope Luz goes down as "need to further explore" brand in my books. Midas is so elegant and classy, imagine what it will look like over a vibrant, intense deep green, or a classic navy, or a royal purple, chocolate brown, and on and on…………….

I was lucky enough to get Penelope Luz as a gift but you can get them as well with Color4nails.

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!
Christine

    1. I agree - Pilates has a huge impact, I am really into it since 6 or 7 years and I swear the difference shows ;-) worth all the sweat :-D! I thought of Liesl too ;-) thank you - I actually like Midas better than the Opi - the foils are smaller and it gives a more refined look xxx

  2. I have a very similar top coat from What The Flock, and though it needs some layering I do love it a lot. So obviously I love the mani you've created here as well.
