Solar Club Ruby Wing Poppy

I wore Poppy as a NOTD of this past week. Since this is my first UV light changing scented polish and not having seen many posts about it so far (but then maybe I just don't follow the respective Blogs) I thought to give this a proper review:

Indoors and in the shade it is a red/pink neon bordering color:

I applied two coats of Ruby Wing Poppy over Essence XXL Nail Thickener. The application is fantastic, the consistency just right. You could even get away with one coat but due to my ridged nails I hardly consider wearing one coat of polish only.

In the full sun it looks like this:

Now on to details: the color change happens within 2-3 minutes max during which the polish changes in an ombre fashion from the bright pink/red via a blue toned red to a super dark and vampy bordeaux. Any part of your nails not fully exposed to the sun will brighten immediately. Unless you place your hands straight into the full sun, you will always have an ombre look on your nails - and who sits with the hands perfectly still unless you wait for some polish to dry??? If the weather outdoors is overcast or when the sun is not fully up the color change is a lot less dramatic and Poppy does not get any darker than this dark blue toned red.

as you can see, the color is really never looking the same, always depending on the amount of UV light it gets exposed to, so it is very hard to pin-point an exact color

More details: Ruby Wing is a scented polish. It is not uncomfortable to smell, sort of sweetly but I could not identify a particular flower. The smell remains noticeable for the first day even when wearing Top Coat. The color changing effect is not influenced by Top Coat. The wear is excellent and I did not detect a different mode of the color change with ongoing wear.

While wearing Poppy I wore one day my favorite green dress - just look how incredibly bright and happy the two look together:

What are your thoughts of the UV light changing polishes? Have you bought any? If so what is your experience with it?

I ordered Ruby Wing Poppy with Head2Toe.

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!

    1. Hi Yun :-) thank you so much - I just thought an extra post might help to describe some characteristics more specifically. For those who are sensitive to smell it might be a nuisance though because that smell is noticeable so long - glad you like it <3
