Spring 2013 Must Haves: China Glaze Tart-y for the Party

Lilac is a color I really wear well. I cannot even say that it is a favorite of mine, but it is a safe choice of color for any occasion or season and I feel homely and cosy when wearing it. Sounds weird? To me it does - just a little bit ;-). Therefore China Glaze Tart-y for the Party was the first of the polishes that went to my Shopping Basket with Head2Toe when I picked my must-haves from the Avant Garden Collection ;-)!!!

the two pictures above are taken indoors in daylight, the photo below outdoors

I applied three thin coats of China Glaze Tart-y for the Party over Essence XXL Nail Thickener, no Top Coat here as the polish dries to a high-shine finish. The formula is thin and the first coat will look streaky and patchy. But I waited a couple of minutes in between applying the second and third coat and it resulted in an opaque and even finish. Be wary of the amount of polish on the brush - it could float your nail. I always wipe of the excess well when using thinner polishes of China Glaze.

Tart-y for the Party screamed for some decor. I fished for Picture Polish Mardi Gras - sigh, so pretty. Note worthy: Mardi Gras glitters lay flat on the nail and leave the surface of the nail smooth!!!

The above picture is taken outdoors in the shade, the below photo indoors in the shade.

Final thoughts: This polish holds a huge potential to be used as base color for glitter, stamping, nail applications and nail tattoos - stay tuned for a Saturday Skittlette featuring Tart-y for the Party soon :-)

Did you pick-up any of the China Glaze Avant Garden Collection yet? Which ones did you pick?

I ordered China Glaze Tart-y for the Party with Head2Toe.

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!

  1. Pretty! I need to wear more lilacs because I love purple so much. I don't think I have a lilac this color...they are either darker or lighter. Thanks for bringing this color to my attention - I may need to get it:)

    1. LOL, I am so flattered, and so happy you love it, you really encouraged me to buy this shade by your comment on Julie - and my dip into memories to acknowledge that one way or the other lilac is with me since I was a teenager ;-) Thank you sis xxx

  4. Soooo pretty with Mardi gras on top! Can't wait for you Skittlette!
I've chosen 3 shades Fancy pants, Tarty for party, and mimosas before party, and I had ordered them on JANUARY 16th! That was almost 2 months ago, right? well, after 3 weeks I wrote nail polish direct asking what was wrong, and no answer. I insisted with politeness but firmly. Until last Saturday when I received an e-mail saying "your parcel was disposed of by Royal Mail due to the new EU regulation which took effect end of January this year. A full refund has now been issued to your account" And I was refund.
BUT NOW i DON'T HAVE MY POLISHES AND I'M IN A NO BUY BAN!!!
I'm never buying from them again !

    1. Salut Nati, oh poverina!!! So sorry to hear :-(!!! I think this new regulation of Royal Mail has taken many suppliers by surprise and I have heard from many nailpolish fans around the world of similar experiences with many suppliers. Especially for smaller companies it seems very difficult to negotiate for other shipping options. I order my China Glaze from Head2Toe. Shipping per bottle around 4 USD, cost for a polish 3 USD something. Delivery approx up to 10 days. Very reliable. Good news: it is not limited edition so you will still find it in 3 weeks from now ;-). Still this is no excuse for not replying - both thumbs down for them - Bisous
