I think I have mentionned before that Zoya is one of my favorite nailpolish brands. Since about two weeks swatches of Zoya's lovely Spring Collection started to pop-up all over the nailpolish world. I anxiously await their availability for us European fans. AND I hollered excitedly when I learnt that Pshiiit Boutique could include Zoya into their product range. What better reasons than the aforementioned are needed to call this a Zoya week?!?!?!? And because of the lack of the new colors, let's dip our nails into former collections: Zoya Shawn from their Wicked and Wonderful Collections for Fall 2010.
Picture above taken in daylight, picture below in artificial light
I applied two coats of Shawn over Essence XXL Nail Thickener. Shawn is so shiny that I did not need to apply a Top Coat.
In my opinion this is a timeless shade of green and while having been released as part of a Fall Collection I love to wear this polish throughout the year.
As I have stated before my skills in nailart are on toddler-level but I still want to sometimes add a little twist to a mani if I wear it for more than a day or two. I will start with the simplest of them all: doing an accent nail. To tune-up Shawn I picked Ana Hickmann Sugar for my ring finger. Ana Hickmann is a nearly-neon pink leaning jelly. Application is absolutely easy - you look here at two coats of Sugar WITHOUT Top Coat - so absolutely non-neon behaviour.
IRL Sugar was not all THAT overwhelming but just adding a bright fleck of color and more coral. In my picture (as a matter of fact in all pictures I took) it looks like a true pink. Looking at the picture now it nearly knocks out my eyes.
Do you also like to do a accent nail with a contrasting color?
I order my Zoya polishes with Nailcare Club and since last week European fans of Zoya can also order these gems with Pshiiit Boutique .
I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!
Christine
LOVE Shawn! What a remarkable shade! Nice contrasting pop of pink, too. Accent nails are great. I like to check out nail art on others, but the accent is as adventurous as I'm willing to get for a few reasons, lol. It is fun to subtlely mix it up sometimes ♥
ReplyDeleteHi Liesl, thank you xxx!!! I also love to see nailart on others and I am practicing stamping but with nubs (as I currently wear) this brings no joy ;-)!!!
DeleteI know it ;) I've attempted it and it seems a larger area to work with is key, lol.
DeleteI found some tiny stamps from Essence but their plates are crap (there is no other word for it). They come dented, irregularly craved and what have you. I tried my best with them but only get blurrs and blotches. I have read about Bundle Monster doing smaller stamping plates - I might dip my nails into trying one of them ;-)
DeleteWOW! A Zoya week!!! I love Zoya even though I don't own that many - yet ;) Thanks for the tip on where to buy them! :D I'll be poor soon... ;)
ReplyDeleteI love this kind of dark forrest/military green shade!
It looks great on you!
xxx
Thank you lovey!!!! I also like this kind of green and Shawn has less yellow than others which is a true advantage with my skin tone!!! If you order any tell me which ones you got :-)
DeleteWhat a nice shade of green !! I don't have Shawn for some odd reason !?!?!?!? lol :)
ReplyDeleteHi Vicky, thank you xxx!!!! I thought about you a lot during the Tuning Sessions - maybe you would have used the pink for stamping? However you would have done some boombastic Magic :-) <3
DeleteHi Chrisitne! You always come up with such great ideas! Zoya week! yay! and you couldn't have chosen a better way to start, I absolutely adore this shade, It's one of my all time faves!
ReplyDeletethe accent nail is a great way of having some nail art! I like the combo green and pink, though you said irl is more coral, I like it either way!
(big thanks for your gift, I wrote you this morning <3)
love
Hi Nati, thank you lovey for your sweet comment!!! Work was overwhelming and I did not get around to reply to your comments and I also want to send a proper reply to your lovely mail xxx!!!! You are right a "proper" pink would also be very pretty. I wonder - where do you get your Zoya's from?
