Dotticure with Colors by Llarowe Grape Juice

With the latest launch by Colors by Llarowe there were quite a couple of polishes that were not holos - HORRAY!!! Mind you, I am any given day in for a spectacular holo by Colors by Llarowe but by now I probably own a holo shade in just about every nuance  of red or purple or black and I start to long for some sauce outside the holo or multichrome galaxies. Next to an awesome range of shimmers Leah Ann mixed up some jellies as well and I just did not get around Grape Juice, a dark, lucious purple jelly. On Instagram I got inspired by @gimme_all_the_polish for the following mani:

This is a very simple Dotticure and you don't require anything but a jelly and a very pigmented white polish (Cult Nails Tempest, my absolute favorite white cream). There were two obstacles I encountered : one was to smooth my ridged nails, the second all that waiting. Below a quick step-by-step:

1. Two coats of Seche Ridge Filling Base Coat
2. One coat of CbL Grape Juice (perfect formula, went on totally even), wait for it to dry
3. Place a few dots in two different sizes with Cult Nails Tempest, wait for it to dry, apply Top Coat
4. Another coat of CbL Grape Juice, wait for it to dry
5. Place some more dots, wait for it to dry, applied Top Coat
6. Add one or two more dots over the Top Coat and finished with a matte Top Coat
7. Fill a couple of dots with CbL Unorthodox Annie

This is really a super simple nail art, core to it: wait rather a couple of minutes longer than risking smudging the dots and use a super pigmented polish for the dots. I also tried it with colors like peach or neon coral and frankly, the results were disappointing. The color of the dots got weird layered under the purple jelly. The white provided the various shadings of purple I was hoping to achieve.

I hope you don't mind my step-by-step but being such a beginner in the nail art sphere I am still looking  for tutorials left and right of just about ANY form of nail art - maybe this little explanation helps the one or the other of my readers…. as a bonus for all of you who made it down here - NELL - his furry sweetness taking a stroll in the sun

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!

  3. This mani is so adorable! I scrolled through instagram and realized that I hadn't seen this post and I had to go and find it. Love the matte and how the nuances pop out. First I thought it was a dotticure with super well matched polishes but when I read I realized it is what sometime is called "pond manicure". I've done one in green before (which I've showed in my blog) and one blue which is yet in my archive waiting to be published. Anyhow, I loved this nail art, it's stunning and perfect and your nails looks so beautiful in this purple shade! xx

  4. Hi pet! This mani is just gorgeous! I love this technique even though I haven't tried it myself yet. I'm low on jellies. Need to change that! Jellies are wonderful! I like the first version best. Less is more ;) Viele Küsschen!!!! xxx

    1. Thank you doll!!! So happy you love it <3!! I am with you, I like the first version best. I don't own too many jellies either - too fussy to be worn by themselves but I start to understand how to use them only now :-S. At least, there is another excuse to keep my stash growing - puss, puss xxx

  5. I love this look!! I have thought about trying a jelly dotticure myself, and then I remembered that I don't do nail art, LOLOL. :P You did a stupendous job! I'm amazed how much the matte top coat makes the whole thing look like...is it plastic? Like one of those pseudo-transparent notebook covers? I had a Snoopy notebook in school that looked like this texture. Please excuse me...I've been very sick, and I think my mind is going... :P
