Picture Polish Illusionist

I slowly work my way through my five Picture Polish limited edition multi-chrome polishes. Oh I just can imagine your raised eyebrows - SLOOOOW??????? Well, I want to layer them over anything but black and I usually try it over the one or the other before I do a post.

Today I have Picture Polish Illusionist for ya - and I applied it over Isadora Beetle Green (this has been quite in use lately) - an insane deep emerald shimmer polish that looks blackened around the edges. I think without poking your eyeball out and hefting it to the screen, you can detect the deep green shimmer on my nails - well that's the Beetle Green doing its work in the back...

I applied two thin coats of Picture Polish Illusionist over Isadora Beetle Green. And there is nothing to say about formula or consistency of Illusionist except IT IS BLOODY PERFECT!!! As it is typical for those layering polishes, the consisteny is relatively thin and while they can be worn on their own at multiple coats, I prefer if they are given maximum depth. I finished the mani with one coat of Sally Hansen Insta Dry.

And of course the underwater picture:

Final thoughts: Picture Polish really, really excelled at all of those shade shifters!!! So far I am in love with each and every one of them!!!
Picture Polish will have a restock of all of them on 31 March on their own website. But beware - they only let customers have one bottle per polish as this is a limited edition collection. I truly embrace this trend as it gives the opportunity to those living in different time zones to have a thin chance of getting any of those lemmings too and not just stumble over "sold out" with every polish.
I really am curious of what you think of Illusionist - you love it as much as I do? What would you have layered it on and nope, I don't mean black, I mean anything BUT black!
Thanks for stopping by :-)
Christine

  1. This is arriving today, I managed to snag Altered State, Gravity and Illusionist on llarowe last weekend and they are already sitting in my mailbox! I feel like especially in your first pic that your nails have a real outer space look, so these will be the easiest galaxy manis everrrr....
I have some greens that are similiar to your Isadora Beetle Green that I looked up, and I hadn't thought of green as a base. I will totally try that. Sad these are limited edition, what if I run out because of all the different layering experiments? :O

    1. Ohhhh I am so happy for you to have snagged those beauties!!! I know, the thought of ever owning exactly one bottle of each of those beauties induce treasure trove thoughts ;-)! The layering options are endless - today I wear one thin coat of Altered State over a bright blue and it adds "je ne sais quoi" with a purple shimmer and that scattered holo twinkle!!!!

  3. Gorgeous! Doesn't it remind me of some of Dance Legend's holo multichromes? Like seriously much? :D

    1. Good thinking Gelic - hmmm I only saw DL multi chromes without the holo, I will do some comparisons with stuff I own though like KBShimmer and Enchanted Polish, thank you for the inspiration!!!

  4. This is totally gorgeous, Christine! It's genius to layer Illusionist over a deep green... you can totally see the green influence peeking out. Just really an amazing polish! :D

    1. Thank you Yun xxx!!!! I am really glad, I remembered that green, I feel that it just adds something (not that Illusionist would need any of that) ;-)

  6. I'm with Yun...this polish is amazing. But you'd never know by the bottle that it's a layering polish? That's a little disappointing to me...I find myself not reaching for layering duos very often because it's just so much trouble, LOL. I have an untried bottle of BL Knackered for that very reason...

    1. Thank you Melissa - I am really into layering polishes, yes it is somewhat more time consuming but I love the variability and racking my stash for possible base polishes. Mind you, you can wear all of those shade shifters on their own but their low pigmentation is in the need for a couple of layers to get a decent opacity. And I never find the colors as intense and vibrant as when layered. Most nail polishers would layer those over black by the way - this works always. I have Knackered too and I just cannot think of a base color I would like to try it over - maybe one of the new Opi's??? xxx
