ILNP Charmingly Purple and Dreaming in Violet

I cannot believe it - we finally have some serious sunny weather over the weekend! You might guess what this means: HOLOMANIA with Polished Marvels. ILNP recently launched their collection for Spring 2014 of which I got myself six of their holo polishes.

First up Charmingly Purple - a saturated cool lilac with a soft linear holo mostly in turquoise and red

I applied two to three coats of ILNP Charmingly Purple over a normal Base Coat. The first coat goes on sheer and I would not recommend going over the same area twice to avoid bald patches. The second coat provides sufficient opacity - if you want to get that lilac really vibrant though I would recommend a third thin coat. The consistency is crelly-like and I like to work those kinds of formulas in thin coats. Charmingly Purple was wonderfully easy to control and went exactly where you want it to be, no strays towards cuticle land!!! It dries in normal time to a decent shine.

On to the second polish I want to show you today: ILNP Dreaming in Violet. This is next to my skin more mauve leaning than what I could gather from the pictures I have seen so far. I would describe Dreaming in Violet as a very delicate and soft light purple with as much red in it as possible without being entirely mauve. As Charmingly Purple it spreads a linear holo rainbow - not smack in your face but stronger than my pictures show. I applied two coats of Dreaming in Violet over my regular Base Coat. The formula and consistency and the application are the same as in Charmingly Purple.

I don't know about you, but I certainly wanted to see the two of them next to each other - so here a quick comparison:

Pinkie and middle: ILNP Charmingly Purple / Ring and index: ILNP Dreaming in Violet
In this comparison, it clearly shows the cool lilac of Charmingly Purple and the mauve tones in Dreaming in Violet. IRL the holo is in both polishes remarkably stronger than in my photos.

Final thoughts: Now aren't they perfect spring holos? Yes, I know, the holo is not overly strong, but my returning readers might be familiar with my love for those soft holos that have a deep and vibrant base color in the shade. And while the holo is not smack into your face it is visible in any light.

I ordered ILNP Charmingly Purple and Dreaming in Violet with their own website here.

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!
Christine

  2. I love Charmingly Purple! I adore any cool-tones purple. And I'm not one of those girls who always wants my holo strong and linear...a polish with any kind of holo in it will always give you a wow factor at some point in the day. I might even like scattered a touch better than linear. :)

    1. Thank you Melissa <3! Those softer holos can look so elegant with an edge! Charmingly Purple is my favorite too - the other one is a tad too close to my skin tone for my taste but pretty nonetheless. I have to think about that scattered holo.... It is very lovely indeed too....
