Picture Polish Whimsy Collaboration with Neverland Nail Blog

Oh my - how can it be that it is weeks since I last posted a Picture Polish??? Shame on me - LOL!!! Currently I anxiously await the arrival of the new collaboration shades on my doorstep so it is high time to show you Whimsy, released within the last range of Picture Polish Collaboration Shades and was created with Neverland Nail Blog.

the above two pictures are taken indoors in daylight, the below photo in the sun

I applied three coats over Essence XXL Nail Thickener. Now here I needed those three coats - badly! This was the first Picture Polish in a long time that gave me a challenge during application. Painting the polish on the nail is no issue - the formula is nice and flows easily on the nail. However once there and while drying it starts to look uneven, sheer and streaky. PLUS it pools. The second coat did not suffice to smooth the uneven first coat. Only the third coat could nearly extinguish the unevenness  - you still can see some streakiness on my pinkie and my middle finger. It dries quickly and the loads and loads of shimmer provide an awesome satin shimmery finish.

Final thoughts: adding some drops of thinner probably will solve the issue with the application. Also the formula for sure is not unmanageable or horrid but just not as easily applicable as other polishes. For all of those who love a delicate, sweet girly light blue loaded with tons of shimmer will love Whimsy and if you invest a tad longer than for a normal slap-slap-and-go mani you will be more than happy with Whimsy :-)

Picture Polish Whimsy can be ordered with Llarowe, Harlow & Co and Pshiiit Boutiqe (currently it is sold out everywhere).

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!
Christine

    1. Hi Essie, thank you so much. It was a minor disturbance - the thing with the formula but nothing keeps us from getting pretty colors onto our nails, right? However, I know myself and since I have such a stash of polishes that I will not reach for Whimsy again because I will probably not like to put up with the application - despite it really was minor only ;-)

    1. Oh Melissa how sweet and lovely - thank you so much!!! I felt lucky to be able to photograph in such perfect lighting - it was a sunny day so my apartmant was bright without blinding ;-)!!! And thank you for ignoring those streaks on my middle finger - but then we became pros and won't get discouraged by a minor formula challenge, no ;-)?

    1. Haha it is a wonderful shimmer and here Whimsy excells - it let's that shimmer "swim" in the polish and it never drowns somewhere down to the base - oh my, I should add this in my post above...

    1. Thank you Süsse, I have to state - the formula is not unmanagable and a careful application with some drytime in-between coats will turn your nails into the most beautiful happy summer mani!!! So it is not that the brush would be horrible or any other part and as stated a drop or two of thinner will solve the issue, I am pretty sure. Have a lovely afternoon - viele Küsschen xxx

  5. This color has been at the top of my wishlist since I first laid eyes on it, and seeing it on you just cements my love for it! That's a real bummer about the formula, but I think it's pretty enough to make the tricky application worthwhile. :)

    1. Hi Yun - thank you so much!!! Oh this is very Yun and you are such a talented nail painter that you will probably not notice any of the issues I experienced. - I am curious to see if you will show Whimsy over at yours.....

  6. A perfect summer color! Too bad the formula is not what we've come to expect from Picture Polish.

    1. Viele Dank :-)!!! We really got spoiled with PP formulas but then maybe those issues automatically appear with shimmers and are very hard to eliminate????

  7. Salut Christine, this a lovely blue on you! It really screams summer to me. Too bad the formula is not great, how rare for a picture polish, isn't it?

    1. Salut ma chère Nati, I hear it loud and clear too: S-U-M-M-E-R - but then it would look nice in Spring or Winter too, I am sure. It is totally rare with PP and the last formula that was similar but much harder to work with was White Wedding. I added some drops of thinner and the formula improved tons. PP did spoil us with incredible formulas - and I am afraid my expectation might have been too high??? Anyhow it is a beautiful polish - bisous xxx
