Nubbins week: Zoya Maura

Just the other week my dear friend Jezz from Little Miss Nailpolish and I kicked-off the Vintage Challenge and in the course of digging my stash of older nailpolish gems, I had to discover that I sit on a considerable stash of older untrieds (shame on me). I will start to have regular posts of them and this week it is the turn of Zoya Maura, released in the Flash Collection for Summer 2010.

the above two pictures are taken indoors in daylight, the below photo outside in the sun

... and this photo was taken outdoors in the shade

I applied two coats of Zoya Maura over Zoya Anchor Base Coat. NO Top Coat - it dries down to exactly this high shine. Application is great - I find these bright, classic reds usually rather easy to apply no matter if you pick one from Opi, China Glaze or Zoya (I got the most reds from them, so these are the only brands I can truly judge).

Final thoughts: Bright reds are one of those colors I prefer to wear on shorties. Somehow on longer nails it reminds me too much of the 80ies style and been there done that I am so over this.

I have to admit, I cannot remember from where I have Zoya Maura. These days I order my Zoya polishes from Nail Etc.

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!
Christine

  1. Hi pet! What a gorgeous shade of classic bright red you have dug out from your vault!! It's really lovely and suits you so well dear!
I agree with you! Red looks fantastic on shorter nails! Much better than on long even if that can be nice too. I only did neon nails in the 80s so I never got tired of long red nails ;) lol! Give Nell a cuddle from me and a big hug to you! Puss puss!! xxx

    1. Hi love, thank you xxx!!!! This was close up for our red day during our Vintage Week but got dumped - but not for long - LOL!!! Lucky you being able to wear neons in the eighties - I was working on a Swiss Bank back then and we had very, VERY rigorous dressing and make-up restrictions - imagine, we HAD to wear make-up - and this in the eighties - uggh, my face felt caked all the time with all that stuff not to mention those bright purple eyeshadows. As for nails only pinks and reds (yep - snore-feast). Nell is out and about right now - he was SOOO miffed to only HEAR all those birds, not catching any - LOL - b.t.w. today was the international World Day of Cats - did you know? Viele Küsschen xxx

    1. Hi Ina - thank you xxx!!! I think all those untrieds are a weakness of us nailpolish addicts - no? And there is always a new one we need to have and those pretties get pushed back in the drawer ;-P

    1. Hi Melissa, thank you so much!!! Giving it a frown and a thought you are right, red can look wonderful on longer nails - especially if one has such a lovely porcelaine skin like you!!! There are things I love about the eighties too - like some songs I used to dance to or some of the perfumes that were released and, and, and....

  5. I'm not an '80s fan, either, and I know you're not supposed to do reds and vampies on long nailses but now that I have long nails I find myself not caring, lolol. There is an obvious and timeless chic to red on short nails, though, and you've got it in spades. Maura looks wonderful on you and for all my reds, I can't believe this isn't one of them!

    1. Hi Liesl, oh my - thank you so much, I am blushing a deep red!!! Hahaha I have to admit, that since I wear my nails a tad longer - with us it is called millimeters - what is smaller than inches? - I also continue to wear reds - or vampies, I love them too much as well LOL!!! And I just had to think of your beautiful Julep you showed sometime back - le sigh...

  8. Hi Christine! I know what you say, opening the Helmer looking for ancient beauty and then there's a loot of jewels from the past! I didn't know this shade, it's so juicy and perfect for short nails and for summer too!
