Nubar Indigo Illusion

I don't know how you plan your posts,  I on one hand love themed weeks and then there are weeks like this one, where the use of a single polish (yes, I mean yesterdays Isadora Beetle Green) sort of gives the whole week a new twist by reminding me of other polishes I own that would sort of fit into the pattern.

Nubar Indigo Illusion was one of the polishes that came to my mind. And this is firstly an older polish and an untried one at that as well. This is so ridiculous when considering how much time I spent to get my hands on it (eye roll).

I applied three coats of Nubar Indigo Illusion over Essence XXL Nail Thickener. Now you really can get away with two coats as it provides enough opacity - however the color and the color shift grows just this tad more intense that makes Indigo Illusion so noteworthy!!! The formula is really easy to work with but I suggest you have a light hand and apply thin coats to prevent brushstrokes.

For comparison - the left picture is Nubar Indigo Illusion with two coats, the right with three coats:

Now looking at the pictures on my screen, I don't see all that much difference but trust me, IRL it is really visible.
And then DING - I was reminded of the suggestion of Jezz from Little Miss Nailpolish to photograph duo- and multichromes "under water". After having rumaged through my stash of bowls I could just come up with one plain white one but I think it does the job. However I will have to work on WHERE I have to take those pictures in future to provide better lighting :-S

Final thoughts: there are plenty of older shades out there that still deserve stage time. This in between season time is the perfect time to dig through drawers and finally allow those beauties back into daylight and onto our nails ;-).

Side note: you wonder why there was no post of mine yesterday??? Well, once more I screwed up the scheduling part of my post on Isadora Beetle Green and sent it out there on Sunday instead of Monday - oh well - hope you missed me yesterday ;-)!!!

I look forward to your comments - thanks for visiting!!!
Christine

  1. Ohhhhh you got Indigo Illusion! This is like, the mother of all duochromes. I believe I've seen it described as "death by duochrome" and that's about accurate. Gorgeous, gorgeous photos! Isn't it funny, how we can pine after a polish and then once we get it, it's almost like we have to make ourselves wait for the full experience, kind of savor it in the bottle by itself for a while? I waited on wearing a bunch of my Nail Prisms for that reason (and I still have about four untrieds, yet, i think). Anyhoo... don't sweat not posting for a day or two, I'm just happy to see ya when I see ya, sis ♥♥

    1. Hi Liesl - REALLY - how awesome that I own it!!!! And LOL, death by duochrome is really totally accurate. Thanks about the pics - sometimes I am amazed how well they turn out ;-)!!! And you phrase this so well, about saving a polish for the right moment - nearly like a good bottle of wine - oh GOSH - did I really compare nailpolish with wine??? I think the signs are set for WARNING :-D!!! Thank you for being patient with me - it means a world to me xxx

    1. Hi Essie - aww thank you!! And good to know about the duochromes - I think I will now go with three at least, the difference is AMAZING!!! I really was annoyed with this Blogger feature. I must have hit the "publish" icon before saving date and time - the Isadora post would have been planned for Monday - this week I have less posts - I simply ran out of time to get them all prepared and thank you for missing me :-) xxx

    1. Hi Ina - LOL - if I am very honest, I have so many polishes, there are few, very few, that I get around to wearing more than once - shame on me :-) xxx

  5. Wow...that's a really strong duochrome! You can really tell in the aquatic shot, LOL. :) It looks flawless! I'm glad you like to pull older ones out too...when I love a polish I will wear it until I'm sick of it. :)

    1. Hi Melissa - thank you so much!!! And so glad you appreciate my aquatic shot - had to do some finger Yoga to get all of them into the bowl ;-)!!! And thank you for your feedback on older polishes - I too appreciate those older polishes - while there is so much new and pretty stuff out there the old ones sometimes are still totally unique. I wish I could say that - my stash has grown too big to get sick of any of them ;-P xxx

I really like the water picture!! I'm so glad you remembered! :D Duo chromes really come to life under water!! Maybe that is why some fish are so beautiful?? ;)
I read your Beetle Green post both yesterday and the day before ;) but I still missed you! <3

    1. Hi cupcake, this is hard to believe - I mean the part that it looks better on me - the light was probably deceiving ;-)!! I am glad you gave me this tip - it really makes a difference but not for the one I will show today - I tried and the result was that it looked the same, I assume it is because the contrasting color has bigger particles??? Who knows... As for our oldies week - I replied to your reply ;-)!!! So sorry that I was not around yesterday but work life is crazy until tonight and on top of everything I have a lot of Mark related stuff this week, there are simply not enough hours in the day, aaaaargh.... Puss xxx
