My Indie Brands of the moment: Jindie Nails - I Am A Star Dot Com

After having shared with you my must haves for Spring 2013, I would like to show you this week my Indie Brands of the moment. While there are plenty of great Indie brands out there, there are some that clearly take a seat in the front row of my Helmers.

First up Jindie Nails. Jen, the creator behind Jindie Nails, has found the key to create perfect milky white based glitters. I admittedly have amassed way more than I initially planned - ehem, but I cannot seem to resist...... Jindie Nails belongs to my favorites because Jen's polishes have something fresh and unique while being quality-wise top-notch. Her range of polishes is surprising and my wishlist of them by far from fulfilled ;-)

This is I Am A Star Dot Com:

the above picture is taken indoors in daylight, the below outside in the shade

I applied three thin coats of Jindie Nails I Am A Star Dot Com on its own using Essence XXL Nail Thickener as Base Coat. The milky base appears VERY thin on the first coat and I was doubtful that I would receive a decent opacity but I am rather pleased with how it looked after three coats. Since I never wear my nails particularly long, I do not really need to consider VNL but even so, I came to prefer the transparency in those jelly glitters.

Jen has mastered the art of finding the right formula to prevent the glitter sinking to the bottom of the bottle. What you see above is exactly what came out of the bottle. I just picked a star from the brush to add to the index - that's all. Another great virtue of her polishes: her glitters lay flat on the nail and one normal layer of Top Coat is all you need for a smooth finish.

Jindie Nails can be ordered through Jen's Etsy Shop here (though her shop is currently closed) or through Llarowe .

Have you tried any Jindie Polishes? If so, which one is your favorite?

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!
Christine

P.S. I would have loved to add more pictures but the remaining bunch turned out crap :-(

  2. Salut Christine! I'm so glad you're doing this week about your fave indies at the moment, because I'm thinking I should get my hands on some indies after Easter, but the offer is so overwhelming I don't know where to start. This one looks so pretty with STAR shape glitter! who could ever resist to that!
I may be totally wrong, but on my screen the milky base appears slightly pink-ish, is it? It's lovely! xx

    1. Salut Nati, really??? So happy that you like my theme!!!! And what a great treat to reward yourself for the NB!!! I hope you will find my information helpful - I myself was in the same position, feeling overwhelmed by indies, sellers, etsy shops and what have you!!! I think the shown polish looks pink because of the glitter - it holds magenta glitter in all sizes except bar glitter. Have a lovely day - Bisous

    1. Thank you Yun, so happy you like it <3!!! The transluscent finish is just so soft and adding a white base would put it close to chalky ;-) xxx - Christine
