KBShimmer Let's Get Star-ted

Before I dive into KBShimmers Spring Collection let's have a look at their previous release of Let's Get Started. I hear you - and imagine your eye-roll: not another milky-white based glitter - but hey, what can I do? I love them and there are dozens out there at the moment.

I am collecting KBShimmers like a sedulous bee and had to order Let's Get Star-ted the moment it got available with Harlow & Co!!

I read that the base of Let's Get Started is a not too strongly pigmented and that a white base might be helpful if one got stained nails (believe me, I do). I used one coat of Ozotic Mr. Big White as "foundation" so to say before applying two coats of KBShimmer Let's Get Started. I used Butter London Nail Foundation as Base Coat and Butter London Hardwear as Top Coat.

Let's talk about Let's Get Started's formula: as mentionned above it is clearly not strongly pigmented and very packed with glitter. All the glitter I have on my nails nearly jumped out of the bottle and on to my brush - I just had to place a star on my ring and middle finger. What I like particularly: the size of the stars and the bigger hex glitters is perfect, they lay flat on the nail and don't act as "door stoppers" for any glitter that wants to come on the nail on the second layer (i.e., no glitter clusters).

While I really appreciate the glitter density I have some personal issues with a bumpy nail surface and polish appearing an inch thick. Even the more a reason for me to limit the application to two coats using a white cream polish as "foundation".

Final thoughts: isn't this just a super cute polish? I cannot get over the wonderful formula, the perfect application and - of course - the final look of it :-)

How do you handle thick layers of polish? Do you mind them?

I ordered KBShimmer Let's Get Started with Harlow & Co.

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!

  3. Like a sedulous bee :) You make me smile :) And stars! I love stars! As for thick layers, I don't mind if it's a jelly or a light creme. Thick layers of glitter tend to drive me a little nuts, lol, maybe another reason I limit myself to ogling pictures like yours rather than wearing them myself ;)

    1. Hi Liesl :-)!!! You don't really say sedolous bee right - in English you would refer to beavers? In German it is a very often used expression that I quite like - evidently ;-)!!! And again we're synched: star-wise and bump-wise - LOl!!! Difference: I cannot resist ;-P!!!
