Colors by Llarowe Little Red Corvette

OK so you might have seen my quick reference to Colors by Llarowe Little Red Corvette in my yesterdays NOTDs of the week post. But this polish is so complex, I wanted to show it in a separate post. Little Red Corvette is a blue based red holo with rainbows shifting from gold (only softly), red to ultraviolet. But not overly into your face and the rainbows were seen best in artificial light. Admittedly I could not coax the holo on the nail more visible than on the pictures below but IRL it would be as strong as you see it in the bottle (again IRL the look in the bottle is stronger than in the pictures).

I applied three coats of Little Red Corvette over Essence XXL Nail Thickener. Now let me assure you, that little gem has an immaculate formula that glides evenly and silky onto the nail. It is sheer and looks pink at one coat but the more layers you add the more it shifts from pink base to a deeper blue red base. I wanted to have it really red so I went for a third coat but it would be opaque at two coats. I applied Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer Fast Dry as Top Coat and could not detect any diminishing of the holo effect.

Thanks to the saturated base (well I admit, it reduces the holo effect) it never looked dull or flat indoors or in the shade and the red holo particles gave it an incredible depth and luminosity that made this polish as stunning as indoors as in the sun.

Are you in for a comparison of red holos?

Pinkie: Glitter Gal Red 3D Holo, two coats
Ring: Colors by Llarowe The Devil Wears Polish, three coats
Middle: Colors by Llarowe Little Red Corvette, three coats
Index: Hits Ares, three coats

The two Colors by Llarowe polishes have the same base - Little Red Corvette has a linear holo in mostly red and ultraviolet (with some gold), The Devil Wears Polish has a scattered holo in all colors that sparkle and twinkle at any move. The formulas of both of them are equally exquisite.

Glitter Gal Red 3D holo and Hits Ares are both having a deeper red base and have a lot more golden holos in it than the other two. Formula on both is excellent Glitter Gal Red 3D Holo is very pigmented and covers in one coat, Hits Ares is sheer and needs three coats for opacity.

Glitter Gal Red 3D holo has the strongest holo effect but can look dull indoors. - Little Red Corvette has the most unusual holo rainbow and Hits Ares has the weakest holo of the above. The Devil Wears Polish is the odd number holo-wise - it is the only one with scattered holo but honestly my favorite out of the above.

I hope you find my comparison helpful - thank you for visiting - I look forward to reading your comments!!! Please apologize for my lack in speed in replying to your comments - somehow life has been on a roll lately and I cannot reply as quickly as I wish - but I will get to it - big promise :-)

I ordered both Colors by Llarowe polishes with ….. yep Llarowe!!! I ordered Glitter Gal Red 3D holo with Harlow & Co and Hits Ares I got as gift from my Brazilian nail polish sister.

  2. I was thinking about getting this one, just because of the name (Corvette is my favorite car, and one day I'll have one, preferably 1969), but now I see it's too pink for my liking. I like to look at it, but not on my nails. I think that's a premiere, the first time a post of you makes me not wanting to buy a polish :-)

    1. I cannot tell you how proud your comment made me!!! This is exactly what I aim for - providing useful information for those who want to read my posts - so if this has played whatever small role in your decision all I can say is MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!! Thank you so very much!!!!!!!! And would you be surprised to learn that I am also into cars of the late sixties and seventies???? I hope to one day own a Dodge - if it is a real muscle car of the time it should be a Charger - if it is a remake it should be a Challenger!

  3. Salut ma belle, how are you? Wow! what a fantastic colour, it looks so pretty on you. if there's something my collection is lacking it's a red holo, and all you showed are so wonderful, it's a hard time to choose one... mmmh, but I think little red corvet is my favourite, also taking into account that the formula is so great!
Well, you know I haven't crossed the indie border yet, because I'm afraid my finances will suffer once I take the 1st step, I might not be able to stop... lol. So for now: on to the wishlist! lol!
    bisous, xxx

    1. Salut ma biche - I am very well - thank you - I hope you as well and that your week started great!!! I can see Little Red Corvette on you - it would be very Nati!!! And I am still awed at your discipline and strictness for staying away from the Indies!!! Indeed Indies are a threat to finances - there are just too many pretties out there - LOL - have a wonderful evening xxx

    1. Thank you hon - IRL it is just so much prettier - that ultraviolet (sorry if my color-naming is not appropriate but I always seem to be lacking the right words) is so unique!!!

  5. I love the names of the CBLs, I've been so hoping someone would do a more musically themed collection. The shade and the holo is gorgeous, of course <3<3 How true red is it, would you say? So many red holos lean pink but Corvette looks fairly true.

    1. Hi sis - lalalalala little red corvette - lalalala - indeed, musically themed collections would open so, so many memories and ideas!!!! Well admittedly my first thought was cars but then I am thrilled by vehicles - two or four wheels - LOL!!! As for your question - hmmmmm it is fairly true red but only at the third coat, at two coat it is still rather pink. If you would look for a real red holo I would still recommend Picture Polish O'Hara but then this is scattered holo and not rainbows. But I would vote for LRC anytime, it is just too stunning

    1. Thank you Melissa - that was such a challenge to photograph the red and the holo were competing all the time to be in the front so my iPhone gave up and gave me a blurr - I can just assure you that IRL it is so much better!!! <3

  7. Wow, yet another stunning comparison! I loved your photos and analysis of all the red holos. Little red corvette really grew on me when i realized how it looked compared with the others. Before i've had meh-kinda feelings for it (some how), but no that has changed!
