Vintage Challenge - Favorite: Opi Black Cherry Chutney

Today it is all about our favorite vintage polish - you want to show us yours? Just add the links to your posts in the gadget below. For more information on the Vintage Challenge click here.

To pick a favorite was a hard task considering this crowded area of mine called "favorites". But in the end there is one polish I wore for nearly half a year at least once a week: Opi Black Cherry Chutney from Opi's India Collection for Spring 2008. Maybe this was the mother of all those red shimmer infused purple and blackened purple shades we see? I would not know this but fact is, that Black Cherry Chutney is loaded with red shimmer - as so often though - more in the bottle than on the nail.

I applied two coats of Opi Black Cherry Chutney over A England The Knight Base Coat. The formula is not very pigmented and only just so on the fence between thin and runny. The first coat went on patchy and streaky but with a slightly thicker second coat I could even out all of that and achieve the above beautiful opacity. In my first picture you can see the shimmer poking through on my middle finger - so it is very, very subtly visible!!! Black Cherry Chutney dries to this incredible high shine, so Top Coat is not a necessity.

Would you also have a hard time naming A favorite polish?

I look forward to reading your comments - thanks for visiting!!!

  1. Hi Christine! This is gorgeous! Looks fantastic on you. I remember the hype when it came out. I didn't get it because I was so afraid this shade was not going to compliment my skin tone (at that time I still care about that). And now it's so hard to find!
    Lovely, vampy, sexy little oldie!
I wanted also to say we'll be travelling to Italy tonight, so for the next few days I may not be able to read your blog or to comment (I'm not sure whether we get wifi where we go). I wish you a wonderful weekend!!

  2. Oh I love those dark vampy shades! Looks gorgeous on you!
Naming one single favorite polish? You're kidding, right? That's like naming one single favorite song or movie, it depends so much on the exact moment you're asked...

  3. I love this polish. I don't have it, but it's one of those that I keep looking up on Amazon over and over again wondering if I should get it. :) I have a ton of vampy shades already because they're my favorites, but I always seem to want more. I sound quite greedy, LOL!! :D My favorite polish is Zoya Frida because I love teal and I love jellies. But I have about 350 runners-up!! :P Have a lovely day!

    1. Thank you Melissa xxx!!! It is one of those shades that never look black and the shimmer adds so much richness though it works in the hidden (I quite like that). I always never get tired of buying new vampy shades - as if... Zoya Frida is awesome - I have it too and should use it again, thank you for reminding me of it :-). Have a lovely Sunday and I will think of you and your sister - I am sure you will do a stellar performance!!!! xxx

  4. Hi pet! Now that is what I call a vampy polish! It's very sexy and hot! And also beautiful! I can so understand that you wore it a lot!! You must have been bathing in complements! ;)
I love these kind of almost blackened shades! Both in blue, green and red!
I hope you are having a great evening! Tomorrow is the last day... :/ But it'll be great fun to see some nail arts! :) Viele Küsschen!! xxx

    1. Hi cupcake - so happy you like it!!! To me it is the epitome of vampiness :-)!!! I have to admit that back then Switzerland was still mostly bathed in reds and pinks and all dark colors wear considered goth and totally off the edge. By now one is quite used to seeing vampy shades in the streets though pinks and reds still dominate. Any other color??? You are a bird of paradise - LOL!!! This week really just flew by and ended too soon. I also very much look forward to see the nail art - puss, puss xxx

  6. Hi sis! Ahh, the India collection was an amazing one and this shade looks good enough to spoon onto a popadom ♥♥♥♥♥ It's beautiful on you and I can see why you chose it for this day... again, with the dark vampies in summer! ;) I need to bring out mine, already. It's so easy to get sidetracked in this hobby, lol.
